How would KC look if Patrick Mahomes had TommyJohn surgery on his throwing arm.

Holy poop dude.

I was comparing the value of Larsson defensively to Tre White defensively.

Larry is leaving, Tre isn’t unless he gets hurt.

Both have the same impact on the Sabres and Bills defensively.

The name Lockport Larry should never ever be used in the same context as Tre white. That’s just comical

montour and a second gets you a really good player

hell montour alone might get you puljujarvi

marcus johanson and a third gets you a solid young promising middle 6 with upside say foegele

sign fast and soderberg

package risto and casey for a better d man

That’s a lot of moves for a rookie GM with no experience
Especially if the Pegulas are trying not to spend $

I find most of the posters backwards thinking comical.

I’m sorry you can’t comprehend that a player is an elite defender just because he doesn’t put up 70 points offensively.

If Rasmus Ristolainen vastly improved defensively these next two years I’d stick up for him. Some people can’t change their opinions from two years ago

Tre White is a top 3 corner in the NFL and quite possibly a top 10 defender in the NFL if not top 15.

Johan Larsson may not drive a line offensively but he is a top 10-15 player in the entire league defensively.

If there is any correlation between these two players and many of us are backward thinking, which can definitely be true, then why didn't JB trade Larsson sometime this year or at least the deadline for quite the haul he would have brought in when it is assumed he is a goner. If Tre White were traded he would bring something nice, I assume Larsson would have as well if he was so highly viewed in the NHL.

We also probably would still have ROR and made the playoffs if Botterill had traded the Mittelstadt pick for another forward. Making the pick is no more of a sure thing than trading it. It's actually way less of a sure thing
- jcragcrumple

My thoughts are the ROR trade was not Botterill but from the people who know more then the fans. He had to take the best and maybe only offer he received. There was no rush to trade him other then his comments in that interview and the 7.5 due on July 1st bc he was under contract, the same as Eichel. Do I blame either for wanting to win, of course not but in the case of Eichel this is the best situation cap wise for the Sabres to make moves. with 2/3 of the teams in cap hell all Adams has to do is be patient to an extent and bargain a team down for the desired player.

As an example, if TB and the Sabres were talking trade who would need who more TB or the Sabres? If TB needs to move out cap to sign Cirelli or Cirelli receives an OS who is on the clock to make a move? I think a 2C and a 2RW should be attainable this year at below market value even if the RW'er comes from a UFA.

Looking back at that 2017 draft, not much has made an impact from 8 to 31. It was a weak draft so I agree that was a year to trade that pick. If this draft is that strong then I think I keep the pick and if a first needs to go the other way use the 21 draft pick, top 10 protect it which is a common practice.

This is a pretty tough offseason to have a rookie GM with no experience
I don’t have high hopes for what Adams can accomplish

At first I thought the same way but heck he's here and maybe just maybe he will do alright. Stranger things have happened. At least he came in with a few positives with the cap space available when there is a flat cap and 2/3 of the teams being at a disadvantage and needing to make moves.

The extremes in your posts are crazy though.
70 points? Lol. NOBODY expects that, no one single sane person.
25-30sh would then merit all the praise he gets from some. But having never sniffed 20 I'd say he should produce better.
Also, I recognize he is solid defensively and would be ok with resigning him ~$2m per ... some have suggested $3m, which is insane. Let another team pay him that.

It was more than just $3M. It was $3M per for 4 seasons.

The caution is warranted no doubt.
Doubly so if there is infact an Internal Budget as was suggested by Homie...but scoffed at by Gerbe.
Who knows what they are doing there.

What gives me hope, however is:
- Jack puting pressure on them as is rumored to be so
- the pressure Kerry and Tim may have placed on themselves to make Adams look good u der the circumstances
- Adams' direction to integrate the Analytics and thd Scouting Departments and his drive to make the Scouts use Analytics more effectively
- Krueger having experience with the roster and knowing his players better
- Appert (sp?) Being more of a development coach

Those are all good signs IMO...now I'd li,e to see them take the next step by investing more in the Analytics Headcount AND leveraging Steve Valiquette's company ... his analytics can help an organization with their system to maximize opportunities both for and against st; while also helping to quantify and qualify potential trade targets that better fit the "system"...i.e how to optimize it.

The rumors of Pegula wanting to pay big for a UFA suggests the internal cap theory is bogus.

I'm just not buying the internal cap theory. At risk of sparking another 2 hour poop on Pegula fest (that they deserve), they've trimmed a lot of business staff, and a lot of underachieving hockey staff. If there was ever a time to cut the fat out of an organization, it would be 2020. As long as it's justified, and, let's be honest, let's take a look at the Buffalo Sabres. They've been adamant that the Sabres would not be hamstrung to bring in the players that they want.

That, and they know they need to be good, they're not going to skimp out.

I hope so, as has been stated many ti es by other posters...this year and next year should present unique opportunities due to the flat Cap and number of teams near it already with players left to sign.
