I'd list the recent trades that have tried to do that and burned us, but you know them.

And I'd list the 7th and 8th overall picks for us in the past decade that burned us, but you know them.

Rossi, Perfetti and Sanderson are the savior until they're Nylander, Mittelstadt and Risto

That's the reality, all while spending over the cap.

We should never make a trade again either then cause we got burned by ROR twice.

Shouldn’t sign any free agents either because of Ehrhoff, Moulson, Leino, Okposo.

Sabres can’t draft, can’t make trades, or sign free agents.

Just dissolve the franchise.

I've seen our 7th and 8th OA picks the past decade

I'll take the $50 bill over the scratch off that's either $100 or $0.

What if it has a $75 cap hit?

In your analogy, they're getting a $50 bill that may cost them $100 or more and only actually be worth $10.

Not great Bob.

Monahan has a $50 cap hit, imo, for a 2nd line center. $6.35 is a flat-out bargain in a world where Kevin Hayes makes $7.1

Was joking....mostly. I don't really consider him because it doesn't make sense from Cal's side.

The bolded is not up for debate, and they're also light on picks too.

On the wing, yes. In net, at D, and at C they’re ok.

Therein lies the rub. If CGY doesn't think 8 is going to be an improvement over Monahan, why should I give a flaming (frank) about the next great thing waiting to be taken at 8?

Funny thing is, in this draft, 8th overall and 4th overall could be the same player.

One thing I will guarantee, is that in one year from now, at least half of the top 8 picks will have less value, as prospects, then they do now as just a number

That's a big leap. Calgary is a good team and he's their 1 C. It's not like they are tearing down and rebuilding.

And that's the lottery ticket. The question is whether you bought the right one.

Stop the tank, I want to get off. I'll take the established player

Not everything is black and white. Teams are in different timelines. If Calgary doesn’t accept Monahan for 8 it’s because they think they can win in the next two years, or they are just in denial of their inevitable rebuild.

All soon to be 32 GM’s are blind squirrels that happen to find a nut every once in a while.

I’ll guarantee half of Sabres nation will want to kill Monahan/Domi as well.

For this year, I’m there I think, if that’s the only way to get a top 6

The reality is 3C's are available and realistic while 2C's aren't, and getting a pair of 3C's would make a world of difference.

Soderberg on a short deal and trade for Stepan

PK gets better, and we get some stability

why are the flames trading monahan?

are they thinking Derek Ryan and Mikael Backlund are that much better?

The question wasn't why should the flames, it's: would you?

To your question, Flames fans seem ready to move on and try something different to some extent, similar to us hitting a wall with Roy as 1C

Risto sucks.

Reinhart is a top 6 winger on most teams in the NHL but not taking Draisatil still hurts.

Kim and Terry need to write the cheque’s and then go back to Florida and stay out of it.

Ralph needs to figure out the PK and play Dahlin more, however he has fielded a pretty good even strength team
