Boy that was painful to watch.

I think we should outlaw reference to that. Like political discussions...that type of filth has no place here.

Yeah but the cost would set us back

You female dog and complain about every single player the Sabres could trade for and yet want to keep the 8th pick for a player that is a massive unknown and won’t be nhl ready for a good 2-3 years at best.

It’s ridiculous.

To me they just seem too padded out now. Almost like their athleticism is hidden behind all the padding. Let’s go back to pads of the hasek era (at least in size) and wooden sticks and see what we got. Lol.

Cozens could have contributed last year, and almost certainly will this year. I don't know why anyone would pretend 2-3 years is best case. Some 2nd rounders contribute in that time frame.

I would, but at this point, I'd never stop laughing. Gotta sleep sometime.

Seriously though, I'm hoping with the cap staying static and our cap space, we can turn it around this year. Hopefully the Business Analyst has eyes for talent...

Looking at the 2017 draft, 12 players in the 1st round have played a full season or more. Most were playing in their rookie seasons and many for partial years or 20/less games.

Can't really say that many players make a big impact in their +1 year. 6 players from 2018 have played more than half a season. 4/6 are top5 picks. There is 1 player drafted from the 2nd round that year that has played 22 games. Next is 6, then none for the other 29 players.

How did Tampa obtain Hedman, Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Cirelli ?

How did the Isles obtain Barzal, Beauvillier, Bailey, Nelson, Lee, Pullock ?

How did the Avs obtain MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Makar,

How did the Canucks obtain Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes, Demko.

Building through the draft is not the flaw, it’s the idiots we have employed to build through the draft that have been flawed.

There will be 30-40 players from this years draft class that will go on to play a minimum of 350 NHL games in a variety of roles.

The 8th overall pick gives you a shot at a top 6 forward or top 4 d-man cost controlled for 8 seasons. Make the right damn pick.

There is a reason why Monahan/Domi are available, remember that.

problem is we haven't been making many of the right picks.. once we get outside of top 2 our picks haven't been that great

plus i don't want another GM going into the season expecting it.. if it happens, great its a bonus. but if it doesn't we need to be prepared to have him on the 3rd line at wing or in the PB every now and then

The point was made that an 8 pick's best case is NHL ready in 2-3 years. It's just plainly not the best case.

RoR played 81 games in his draft year as 2nd round pick. That's close to best case.
