Go reread Chad’s article from this morning then. Johan Larsson is a top 10 defensive forward in the NHL.

Jeff Skinner and Connor Sheary had the best stretches of their respective seasons when he centered them this year.

Larsson will go somewhere and become a solid 3rd Line Center and allow a team to use their top 2 Centers in heavier offensive usage.

I respect that Chad has some alleged sources but other than that not a lot else. He had one good year in the past how many? Chad has his agenda and some of which are to drive hits on his sites.

Or just create the Johan "Larry" Larsson Award for Most Outstanding Contribution to Low-Event Hockey

I watched the Blue Jackets bore the heck out of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Watching the Islanders and Stars, two teams whom scored less goals than the “we need more goal scoring” Buffalo Sabres
, bore their way to being one game away from Conference Finals appearances.

Defence wins. It’s not a coincidence that two of the top 5 defensive teams in hockey last year in the Blues and Bruins played each other for the cup while all the “high flying” teams watched from the couch.

Can Montreal really want both Price and Allen with the combined cap hit? $14.8m per? That’s crazy! Have to think Price is moved or Allen is flipped.

If Price is moved, he will need a 1st with him to even get a team to take him, maybe 2.

Really weird / interesting move by Canadians.

Edit: Price is 33 with 6 (!) years left at $10.5 per.

Sometimes. Sometimes the Penguins and Capitals win with offense.

Larry will find a place and do his thing. But cmon, Selke is ridiculous hyperbole. Datsyuk, Bergeron, ROR, Toews, Kopitar... and Larry

It'll be fine. On the road, the LOG line was functionally useless when they couldn't strategically deploy against top lines in a defensive posture.

He's a one-dimensional player who's useful 41 games a year. It'll be fine when he's gone

I hope and think they would have had talks with other teams and feel comfortable they can move him.

It doesn't matter anyway, it doesn't take anyone with sources to have a strong inkling that Larsson would want out of this place and try life someplace else

The Selke was always about 2-way play.
- buffalofan19

He's right though. It's a reputation award.

If it was truly based on the best play combination at both ends, Sidney Crosby should have won it a few times. Mark Stone should win it too.

It will always go to a two way center who isn't *that* good offensively

So long Carey Price
- dadeadhead

Sarcasm? Price has 6 years left at $10.5M per, with a $13M pay day due for the 21-22 season, and he just turned 33 two weeks ago.

Who is trading for that deal? A lunatic?

The Capitals didn’t win crap before Trotz got there, haven’t won a playoff series since he left.

Coincidence ? I think not.

I thought that too but what GM would pay 14+ million for their goalies in cap space?

Disagree. It's silly to act like Larry's impending departure is like July 1, 2007 all over again. It'll be fine. There are plenty of Larrys in the sea

Grubauer had really good numbers there too.

He turned an alcoholic into a William Jennings winner the following season.

The Avs let Varlamov walk in favour of Grubauer and he’s had a terrific year on the Island.

The only difference between Columbus and Buffalo this year was that Korpisalo/Merzilkins stopped more pucks than Ullmark/Hutton

Not really. Not ones for free, or ones who will cost little on the cap.

And pretending like the Asplund’s or Lazar’s of the world can do the same thing is as ridiculous as acting like it’s Drury leaving

I think he went back and forth now that I’m looking into it. From everything I’ve read, he’s been a more effective winger, and less of a liability in his end.

I don’t think he’s very good. Period. Not sure I’ll move off that stance.

He’s not a natural center, he’s bad on D, and he’s an overall douche bag who’s about to be on team 3 by age 25.

No thanks

- sbroads24

I don't think he went back and forth at all during his big season in 2018-2019, as he was the Center for his line well over 91% of the time by the line combinations I found at even strength.

He may not be very good, but he had his best season playing Center.

With that said, how can it be quantified or shown that he's better as a winger when the 2018-2019 season exists?

Fast had 20 goals TOTAL in the last 2 seasons playing over 60 games in each. He has no business playing with Eichel over Reinhart. Waste of money and time.

To be fair, Johan has been very good defensively the past 2 seasons, not just this past season.

From that article that was posted from someone else earlier

"Want to know the big difference between Domi’s first and second seasons in Montreal? In 2018-19, Domi had a ridiculous run of 11 goals and 11 assists in 17 games from Oct. 17 to Nov. 21, 2018. Over that hot streak, Domi put 37 shots on goal, giving him a shooting percentage of 29.7 percent. It is typical of a hot streak, but also unsustainable over an entire season. If Domi had produced at an average rate over those three weeks early in his first season, his production that year would not have been much different than it was this season."

While that's true, he also had his best hot streak at center.

The rest of his season was 50 points in 65 games

It's amazing the number of very good players on such a sh*t team that they will miss if they lose them, ya know, miss these bottom of the barrel days are for the memories.

Jake Allen has been traded to the Montreal Canadiens. https://bit.ly/3gWZ4Yx #stlblues

While the bar is admittedly very low, do you know what an impact a 60 point Center would make behind Eichel? Hell, a 50 point Center would make an impact.

So does this apply to Monahan who you are vehemently against?

Like Is Domi free or something? I think he's going to cost a lot
