normal offseason with stability owners, and gm, agreed

we have a rookie gm, chaotic owners, shortened season and perhaps 3 recent top 8 picks as centers, 4 if you count reinhart

if we were a move or 2 away from competing for a cup, sure

we are a long ways away, so moving a bunch of assets for a stop gap makes no sense to me

There's also a difference between what they will do and what they should do. They absolutely should not depend on rookies playing 2C anymore. I've seen enough of that to last a lifetime

But this isn't like EA, where they just naturally progress either. So far, CM has not shown the necessary improvement to even crack an NHL lineup.

Not to say he can't, but nothing indicates he will make that leap in time to be a 2C this year.

I want nothing to do with another year of counting on a young kid to fill a 2C role. I would rather get someone quality to fill that role and be surprised when a young guy is ready because he made a monumental leap forward. Better to have a dearth of talent than count on an unknown.

Just read they want to start Dec 1st and are in fact planning to play a full season

and one of them was ranked top prospect not in nhl a few months ago
