I'd look at Dadonov at RW, he's a UFA that was making 4M/yr go 3 yrs @5M...3 straight years 20+... 28, 28 & 25. Few contenders will be able to afford that - Leninthebuff
He's probably going to want 7m |

Terry will always try to get the big fish for the fanbase .. is it smart? No but he caress - GERBE!!!75PTS
Maybe the Communications Major should, you know, Communicate what they mean by these terms they throw around...Lean, Economical, Efficient, Effective...in the sense of running a NHL hockey team |

If I am the Jets I am calling Ottawa about Laine for the 3rd pick and taking Drysdale - sbroads24
Wouldn't Ottawa chuckle and hang up the phone?
They're going to trade a quality multi year ELC player for a player that is ARB eligible with one year remaining on his deal and a qualifying offer of $7.5M?
I find that highly doubtful. |

Not sure. But I don’t think they want to rebuild forever and they also like selling tickets and Laine is a big name. It wouldn’t shock me if they moved one of those picks
I’m not a Laine fan, but he’s a 22 year old 35 goal scorer. Chances are he’s better than Drysdale ever is.

Anyone see that article by Jason Moser on the Sabres home page. A lot of moving parts, but definitely interesting. |

If it was the 7th or 8th pick, maybe, but I can't see a budget conscious team like them trading either the 3rd or the 5th for a player they're immediately going to have pay big time for with his next contract. |

It's interesting how you seem to have gone from a building through the draft and tracking prospects believer to a trade the pick for an already known commodity believer. |

It's fun and all, but when you make 5 trades and win most of them, it's kind of Playstation world.
What's the over/under on significant trades this off-season? 1.5?

The only one of the 5 trades he made that's a win to me is the Lightning trade, and even that's not a clear win as they're in serious cap trouble next year. |

There is no way the Lightning get robbed like they would in that trade. Every time we think they're in cap trouble they get out of it. I don't see this year being any different.

I like how he pulls of getting are 3rd back from the Rangers to have that threat of a offer-sheet. |

The big wrinkle this year is the amount of players they have with clauses combined with sending an offer sheet to Cirelli.

The other 30 general managers are just NPCs to advance the main quest of winning the Stanley cup. Adams has 85 speech and 90 charisma. He'll pull it off |

I think it's a concept that sounds good, but is a lot tougher to pull off than it sounds. You don't just send an offer sheet, the player has to agree to it. So what do you actually do? Threaten to negotiate with the player? Actually work out an offer sheet and then use it as leverage? In reality, I think they just stare down a rookie GM and call his bluff.
