He got his contract coming off a 53 pt in 61 game season. Came back down to Earth and they moved on fast. If you want to find a term between dump and casualty, that's fine. It wasn't the worst deal ever, but it certainly was money poorly allocated.

I don't see it as them wanting him back. They rented him, for a guy they knew they couldn't pay as an RFA. They are better at these games than JB was. If they retain him for anything close to 3m, I'll gladly retract.

I think I can agree with the top, that it wasn't some great trade by Botts. I just don't see a ton given up. Then again, I don't know what other cap moves were to be had.

I would say to the 2nd part, it doesn't matter if it's Pitt that resigns him as long as it's 2.5-3.5M, he's stayed similar value then. I think on the open market he'll get that, but I'll gladly retract as well if that doesn't come to pass. I haven't seen his expected contract but would figured 2-3y 2.5-3.5M would be around the area.

This is not a hill a hill I want to die on, but it's not a great idea to bite the hand that feeds. That's all I'm saying
