If he did (which he didn't), he learned it by watching Marchand. Funny how one of the dirtiest teams in the league (and have been for over a decade) are quick to point fingers at others for behavior they engage in themselves.

I’m not a bruins fan, but he def did. Tampa isn’t a clean team themself bud.

Ritchie hit was so LATE its laughable the refs didn't call a major and throw his ass out of the game. Cassidy is an ass too....akin to AV calling Niskanens breaking of Gally's jaw last week as a "hockey play"....bull poop...Bruins are losing to a really good team...the Bolts look like they are going to be tough to beat.
- Hockey Pucker

NHL network took a look it was 0.6 seconds late according to them.

it was so obviously a dirty hit.

thankfully the rules have changed( maybe an nhl coach should know the rules) and you can review a major oenalty. that means tge refs have less of an ability to favor the dirt bag bruins

You were ok until this nonsense.. Thicc Nic will turn Cernak into a stain if he was or is dumb enough to go with him. Cernak's gloves will be cemented on around Nick.

- dozerD10

I had to throw some nonsense in to make it good. LOL.

Seriously though, I wanna see Cernak go with some heavyweights like Ritchie and Wilson. You don't know how tough someone really is until they drop the gloves with somebody bigger and meaner. If Cernak gets beat down, there are Schenn, Paquette, Maroon, Coburn and a couple others willing to do the same thing. This Tampa team is deeper in almost every way, including sandpaper.

I really want to see somebody cold-cock Reaves, and if Tampa/VGK meet in the Finals, we might see it.

Agreed, they aren't. This season's Lightning roster is a lot heavier and dirtier. You gotta be to win in the playoffs.

My issue with the Ritchie hit isn't that it was late, because it really didn't look very late at all. It was a blindside hit into the boards against Gourde who is a midget compared to Ritchie. Ritchie didn't try that poop on Maroon. Pick on somebody your own size.

In all honesty, Gourde probably poop-talked his way into deserving that smashing he got. Gourde is turning into Darcy Tucker 2.0 - lots of yapping and scrappiness. Sometimes he bites off more than he can chew.

Reeves is a tough tough dude. There are only a few real heavyweights left..

Nick was a reach @ 10 .. esp with the guys that went after him.. but he can really go. And he likes to fight.. He would've been perfect for the 70's and 80's..

And the Bruins aren't nearly as dirty as they are portrayed. They're no saints, not making that claim by any stretch, but nowhere near as bad as their "reputation". They aren't the "big, bad Bruins" anymore.

Haven't watched any games of this series but if Tampa is up in the late stage of game 5 I might tune in just to see Neely whiz a water bottle or two around the press box!

I am not a tampa or bruins fan so i am not favoring either team. I thought the ritchie hit was late and it was reviewed. No issue with the call after everyone got together. I am not sure why cassidy is still putting ritchie on the ice though. Seems like he has spent more time in the box than on the actual ice. Bruins are down 3-1 in the series. Play the more talented guy, not just the guy who finishes checks. I get sticking up for your guy but.....

In 7 games during the reg season with the bruins he was a -2. In the last game he had 12 PIMs and 10 min of ice time. He was an even player for the last game but in the 1st 3 games against tampa, he is a -3. Put some speed on the ice.

Not late?.....go back and watch the replay in the blog. Look where the puck is when Ritchie initiates contract.......gourde is way inside his own zone, and the puck is already past center ice

Reaves is scary. LOL. I wouldn't mess with him. Yeah, we don't have many pure brawlers left. The game has evolved away from one-dimensional players. Now, it's not good enough to just be a bruiser, you have to score a few goals along the way, be a decent skater, and be defensively-responsible. That kinda narrows down the field a bit.

You're right, they're really not. Lucic is gone now and he was big part of that (for me at least). I have a long memory going back to the 2011 series - still nursing some butthurt over that one. Chara has mellowed out some and Marchand is mostly annoying and rarely outright dirty any more.

Lucic in his prime is a dude I would never want to mess with. His prime was over before he left the Bruins. That being said, Thornton was one of my favorites. I actually think he was a better "hockey player" than he was given credit for.

I love Jumbo Joe. I hope he comes back for another year.

Lucic was a psycho and probably still is. I don't see him play much now that he is exiled out west.

I was talking about Shawn Thornton. The enforcer from the cup days (although they had plenty with Lucic and McQuaid).

Both hits were on vulnerable players and sent them head-first into the boards.
So yeah - they were close enough.

Why would you care if Cassidy coaches a team other than your own though?
Have something to do with Bruins knocking your team out of playoffs?

Happy Bruins elimination day. Good riddance. Softest lineup I've ever seen wearing this sweater.

Bruins coach/player/fan/blogger unhappy over officiating in loss.

How original

ALL coaches do that post games under similar circumstances. Only a complete fool throws his own players under the bus.
