It may not be as bad as you think. Remember when Bobby Hull jumped to the WHA in 1972 for one million dollars? Using this on line inflation calculator that is about 6.2M in today's dollars. That's not even Debrincat money.

https://www.in2013dollars...ation/1972?amount=1000000

That was for the entire contract, not per year.

[quote=Chunk]I’m guessing that it’s players the Hawks has in their prime. Otherwise you can get guys like:
Paul Coffey
Wendell Clark
Theo Fleury
How about Bobby Orr?

- FourOrr

Oh, mine wasn't an exhaustive list by any means. For a while there CHI was the retread capital of the hockey world.

Old Phil Housley
Old Doug Gilmour
Old Lyle Odelein

Peter Bondra scored his 500th with the Hawks! One of the maybe 5 he scored for us if I remember correctly.

I may be wrong, but I believe that was on an end-to-end rush as well.

Tyler,

Your next topic should be the Hawks all time worst team.

Yeah, I stand corrected, $250K per year, but with a $1M signing bonus according to this....

http://www.hockeyzoneplus...salaries/34151-bobby-hull

edit - so in today's parlance 5 years at 250K plus $1M signing bonus is a total of 2.25M, an AAV of only $450K.

edit #2 - $450K back then worth about 2.8M today.

And Bobby Orr.

Ironically Orr played only 26 games in Hawk uniform and recorded 27 points. All the while skating on one leg at that time.

That would be interesting. And a stipulation should be that they played at least a season (maybe 2), appearing in at least 50 or 60 games...soemthing like that anyway.

It would be an interesting debate to determine the best all star team of all time. How would the Hawks stack up to the Canadiens all star team (not well, I assume)? Where would we rank?

Followed by the worst coach and general manager in recent team history.

Maybe Bob Pulford could qualify for both.

Yes, he said old man Wirtz had promised him $250k per year and backed out, rumored because other owners got on him.

Tyler, I just checked, he played '77-93, a true transitional player between "old and new," nobody has said anything about that great GM Doug Wilson?

i have a favorite all time player list but nothing for me compares to the 2013 edition of the Blackhawks. Probably the most fun ive ever had watching hockey hands down.

I’d have a defensive pair of:

Bryan Marchment and Dave Manson

Could you imagine having to go up against those two, especially in a 7 game series....

That’s some old time hockey....

Exhale....

Here is one of my candidates:

The one and only Dave Logan. A 5th rounder that Bob Pulford was going to make an adequate NHL defenseman.

Logan suggested to coach Orval Tessier that he should get more PP time after scoring the game before. He was promptly sent packing to Vancouver.

I felt sorry for Bob Murray because he was saddled with covering for this clown as a defensive partner.

Marchment was just flat-out dangerous. Even his own teammates hated covering for his a$$ when he got in trouble.

With today’s rules all the opposition needs is a great powerplay as those two would be in the penalty box all game long.
