I really hope the NHL does not follow the NBA's lead. A bunch of largely financially set-for-life millionaires grandstanding by not showing up for work will not accomplish the type of social change they supposedly yearn for.

This is a brutal overpayment for the Sabres even with Okposo. We've seen salary dumps for a fraction of this offer.

Kane is one of the few wingers in the league that can drive his own line. But I really don't want to give up Cozens, I think if Cozens was involved it would have to be for someone 25 or younger, atleast from my perspective.

Bennett has played the wing I believe his entire career with Calgary, and definitely the past 2 seasons, at least.

One serious question: Why on earth would the Sabres trade the 8th overall pick to the Blackhawks for Strome?

The Blackhawks blogger, in this blog that Pachla wrote, suggested one of the two deals below would work.

If the cost to get Strome is the 8th overall, then that is an easy pass.

- Strome, Sikura and left-handed defenseman Olli Maata ($4.08M cap-hit for two more seasons) for goalie Jonas Johansson and winger Tage Thompson
