At least we don’t have to give up 8th OA for this eventual upgrade
- Pegullaville

I think Monahan is actually pretty good though.

I wouldn’t trade Cozens, and I’d hate to trade 8oa, but I wouldn’t blame them too much for doing it.

Let’s be honest, we’d all trade Risto, Mittelstadt or Nylander for Monahan in a heartbeat. I don’t trust the Sabres to make the right draft choice

solid post

if cozens is the real deal, they should draft best player available

- homiedclown

Yeah you’re right. Cozens seems to have the IT factor and drive to be great. He actually reminds me of Josh Allen in that way. We have sucked for so long that it’s tough to be patient BUT if we can find a stopgap 2c for next season and then Cozens grabs 2C in 2021/2022 we’ll all be happy eventually. Just can’t give up too much for the stopgap. Stromes age profile fits in well, but he reminds me too much of Vesey. Henrique May make the most sense if he can be acquired without giving up too much.

I trade Montour, trade for Henrique and Keep Risto. Hope Hutton can see next year, keep Larsson and I think we’re okay next year

Serious question is what is the realistic expectation for the 8OA To make an impact.

2023 probably?

Mitts was rated as one of the Top prospects in the NHL at one point.

Nylander was going to be a scoring wing for Eichel for years to come.

Risto was a cant miss #1 dman.
Zadorov was going to be his partner.

Every year the draft is can’t miss.

I agree with getting an older veteran on a one year deal. Soderberg is a UFA, or look at Derek Stepan. He is in the final year of his contract and Sabres could take on his cap hit if AZ paid his bonus. Either one would be a bridge Cozens. I could see Cozens on a 3rd line with Johansson and Kahun, two guys who have also played center and would give him great support. Don't give away assets. Weaponize the cap space.

Curtis Lazar had a higher WAR than Monahan this season.

Cozens would also go top 5 in a redraft if they had a redo this year. He’s a much better prospect than any of those players mentioned.

What kind of trade would you propose for strome from the hawks?
- Scott1977

I actually like the 2nd trade proposal in Pach's blog, think it is close, maybe we add a D prospect.

Risto doesn't but you make it out like Strome is Crosby. He would suck worse then he does if he wasn't with the Hawks.

Depends whose there, Lundell or Rossi could possibly help this year.

I like Lundell, been talking him up for awhile. I don't think it is just 8 for Monahan, there has to be something else involved, more pieces. Half there D core is FA.
