Its not about what I think, its about the evidence. Name me one successful team that has played like the Coyotes or Islanders in recent memory?
- James_Tanner

Um....The Islanders. I mean they had 103 points last year and were on pace for ~96 points this year. Made the second round of the playoffs last year and here they are in the second round this year, so I'd say the Islanders are a pretty successful team playing the same style the Islanders play.

But they played "boring" hockey and got "garbage" points so they don't count.

Wait a minute... weren’t the Caps coached by the same guy who coaches the Isles? That’s pretty recent.

Or was that only because they had Ovi... who hadn’t won anything until the team learned to play defense?

Those boring Isles beat Philly 4-0. I bet their fans hate watching them win. Check out Barzal's JFresh card...

Right?

Defensive hockey is only boring when your team is losing to it.
When your team is winning with it it's perfectly fine.

Yep. If the Leafs were still playing and having the same current success as the isles are, Jimmy would be saying how they're revolutionizing the NHL and are the most exciting team in NHL history.

Yes but players like Barzal, Beau, and Pageau are boring and cannot skate. Same for Leddy, Pulock, and Toews. Isles have no talent whatsoever.

Why are the 1997 New Jersey Devils being referenced? For those who didn't watch the games that year...the Red Wings won the Cup that year with a skilled roster. The bruising Flyers were swept in the Finals. The real Cup Final was Detroit-Colorado in an exciting series full of skill. New Jersey lost in the 2nd round that year. Might have made more sense to reference the 1995 Devils who played the trap to perfection and suffocated the Red Wings in the Finals. Anyway, hopefully the Coyotes are listening. Sounds like they key is to hire another guy like Chayka, and then a coach who will play Hall and Hayton and Kessel 20-25 minutes a night. Plan the parade. So simple.

What do the 1995 New Jersey Devils have in common with the 2020 New York Islanders? Here's a hint. Jurassic Park.

Awesome!

I though his resemblance to the T-Rex was obvious. Love Lou. Met him at the HHOF when Stevens and Messier were inducted.

Despite what know nothing Tanner says, Lou Lam is one of the best GM's of all time. He's proven that for almost 4 decades. Those 3 Devils Cup wins were no accident. The Isles winning Playoff rounds is no accident either. Lou knows how to WIN. Period.

Well the Los Angeles Kings instantly come to mind.

What’s more, didn’t the Islanders statistically (and visually) dominate the Capitals 5v5 in round one?

- Wildschwein

He won’t answer you it doesn’t fit his narrative.
