Nearly all of them have come on the powerplay - which, don't get me wrong, still matters, but c'mon man, don't act like Gaudreaus points aren't a function of Tkachuk drawing penalties. Come playoff time, when the whistles go away, that matters less. Give me the guy that scores 5v5.

And shove 2017 in a sack - kid's first playoffs.

Tkachuk isn't putting up 5v5 points either, and Gaudreau had 9 points in 11 games when he was a little kid in his first scary playoffs.

Tkachuk drawing penalties is effective because Gaudreau is cashing in on those opportunities. The amount of hate the fanbase has for Gaudreau is absurd and disgusting. You'll make excuses all day for Tkachuk while throwing Gaudreau under the bus every time because he doesn't bash with people. Gaudreau also finished even this playoffs, so they weren't giving up goals 5v5 either.

They need both the the Gaudreaus and the Tkachuks.

5 of those 9 came on the powerplay, and in *19* playoff games since then, he's put up 2 even strength points.

It's not hate, it's pragmatism - Johnny doesn't get much of anything done in the playoffs, and if you actually watch the games, apart from a few 5 v 5 shifts, he looked totally lost and afraid out there. There's also the fact that, because it's the lone facet of his game, he's EXPECTED to score. It's really all he's out there to do.

Tkachuk produces in 1000 different ways, and frankly, 5v5, he's put out there to shutdown the opponents top line, especially in the post season. I look to him less to produce and more to draw penalties, defend, get the top line of the opponent off their game and get guys running around looking for him.

Trade Johnny - use the assets to build your prospect pool and/or D corps, sign Hall and you come out even, if not way ahead depending on the return for #13. That's asset management.

You need the Johnny's to get you there, you need the Tkachuks to get it done. Will trade Johnny 1000 times before I touch Tkachuk, because there are tangibles and intangibles there that you don't get with #13.

As for the +/-... sure. He wasn't scored on. Because teams threw out their 4th lines to grind him to the wall, not score. And btw, he was -2 against Dallas, the "actual" playoffs. Playing against Corry Perry and crew most of the time.

So Tkachuk makes more money than anyone on the team to be a poop disturber? Johnny doesn’t get a pass from me for playoff performance but neither does Tkachuk (yeah I know he was hurt).

Did anyone actually think the Flames were going to do anything in the playoffs this year? 1st round exit after the season they had didn’t surprise me at all. Not saying it’s acceptable but realistic expectations have to come in at some point.

Personally I had low expectations going into this Hub playoffs & the team exceeded my expectations. When you see Dallas handle Colorado it would be nice to see the fcking whining on this site lighten up a bit & realize the Stars are a fck of a good team.
Thing is we had a solid chance in that series, a game we should have had & another game we had a shot at were pi$$ed away in the final minute of each game. If Chucky didnt get injured I think that series goes a bit different. We had two lines going up till then. Colorado are being exposed as a 1 line team as well & Stars are going after them & minimizing the star power of that line.

Saying that, the performance of that top line, that earned $18 mill per year did very little during these playoffs & I include the Jets as a playoff match cause it was.
I see how Bennett & Andersson were playing with the injuries they had & they had more impact than that top line getting paid 18.0 mill per. Same ole same ole going forward is not acceptable. I like Monahan, he puts pucks in the net to the tune of 30 goals per year consistently. Gaudreau used to have great puck possession & when he first came up he seemed to have that Gretszky vision I would call it & find the open man & get a 10 bell goal scoring chance. That hasnt happened for awhile. Maybe it is time for a change. Heard a rumour that didnt make sense but I would jump all over it, Ekblad for Gaudreau. Not sure why Florida would do that.

Sigh...

Tkachuk produces in 1000 different ways, and frankly, 5v5, he's put out there to shutdown the opponents top line, especially in the post season. I look to him less to produce and more to draw penalties, defend, get the top line of the opponent off their game and get guys running around looking for him.

You telling me the only thing you got out of that was poop disturber? He earns more because he DOES more. He takes the tough minutes. He drags the team into games. He skates against the top lines, not the 4th lines. He bangs. He crashes. He disturbs the poop. He scores. He drives play. He draws penalties. He pisses off McDavid.

He doesnt get a free pass, but you should recognize that there are a million things the guy does without the puck having to be on his stick that help this team win. Tell me what, aside from scoring, Johnny does well on the ice? Defend? No. Hustle on the backcheck? No. Make it tough on his opponents? No. Draw penalties? Yeah, he does. Body check a guy once in a while? No. Stick up for his teammates? No. Block shots? God no.

I like Gaudreau. I think he's a great regular season guy. He's magic with the puck on his stick (when not on a breakaway) but he's also very one dimensional. You can say some of the same for Mony, he doesn't drive play, he is a recipient. But he's shown more willingness to develop other parts of his game at least.

I also think, in an off-season where you can replace Johnny's scoring with Hall, you'd be nuts not to consider moving him. Especially with the price Kapanen just fetched.

Gaudreau is better than Hall and makes less than 7 million. Hall isn't signing in Calgary unless they're offering way more than anyone else. Rutherford is a crazy person, so any trade he makes has no impact on the market.

1) The margin there is thin
2) Any trade sets a market
3) You have literally zero idea what's in Hall's head
4) You're conveniently ignoring that trading Gaudreau also get you assets, making you deeper and better

It's been said to dump Gaudreau and bring in Taylor Hall. I want NO part of Taylor Hall on this team. Aside from one or two good years, he consistently doesn't backcheck, has no defensive elements to his game, and is a career minus 42 in the NHL. In th e playoffs, he's not exactly clutch, either, scoring only four goals and only one game winning goal and no overtime goals in 14 playoff appearances (5 games with NJ in '18 and 9 games with Arizona in '20). He's not the sort of player who drives play and he's a turnover machine - we see it every game against Calgary. Just no, especially not for the money.
