People need to relax. He had a bad year and is still a top 3 defenseman on most teams.

Okposo is worse than Lucic. He has a higher cap hit and also doesn't bring anything to the team except solid defense. 6 million is 5 million too much for Okposo.

Agreed the 15th pick for Kapanen seems like a steep price but in saying that I don't know anything about the other players in the deal.

Domi was nearly a point per game player last year, he regressed this year for sure, but so did most of that team.

He's a pest, he plays like Tkachuk. We've seen, come playoff time, that Gaudreau is basically useless - you need more guys like Chucky in the lineup.

If Montreal offers that and you can't leverage a better deal - take it and run. I think the Flames see a better offer before it's all said and done though.

Leverage those picks to move into the top 10 and draft your next #1 centre in Perfetti/Rossi or go big guns blazing and move into the top 5 If Ottawa wants to move their 5th overall...

Was thinking about Ottawa and if those high picks are in play. They could fast track their rebuild by adding Monahan or Gaudreau.

If the Flames are considering this trade, they understood nothing and still believe a few minor twitches can get this team deep. It's not a bad trade (could be way better though), but it comes from a bad reading of the situation.

What's your point. You don't get to make excuses when you're the highest-paid player on the team. He was also useless last year and in 2017 as well. If you're calling Gaudreau useless, Tkachuk shouldn't get a free pass. Gaudreau has 4 times as many points in only twice as many games.

Hey all, an off-topic post. Do any of you (of course you do) stream games on NHL Live as opposed to watching on TV? Considering canceling TV for good as sports are the only thing the tube gets used for these days. Any pluses/minuses I should know about re: NHL Live?

He hasn't racked up the points, agree - you can't say he's been useless though. He draws attention, he bangs and crashes, he gets the opposition's top guys off their game.

Gaudreau skates in a circle and if someone comes within 8 feet of him, that puck is off his stick and into a bad area within a split second.

Nearly all of them have come on the powerplay - which, don't get me wrong, still matters, but c'mon man, don't act like Gaudreaus points aren't a function of Tkachuk drawing penalties. Come playoff time, when the whistles go away, that matters less. Give me the guy that scores 5v5.

And shove 2017 in a sack - kid's first playoffs.
