You could be right but i would be surprisrd if he signed with them. Imagine what Crawford private thoughts might be to have Gus providing support? I had thought Riddch was a promising netminder for Calgary. Has he fallen into disfavor? Maybe this team drafts Askarov. Trade Bennet to move up in first tound and take Askarov?
- jhawk59

I doubt Calgary signs Gus. Riddich was a disaster in the playoffs and basically lost the starting job to Talbot as the season went along.

Caggs can go. He has never played a full season in his career. He bring something but he isn't worth carrying in the way of a younger player.

Strome is what he is at this point as a skater. Below average. He has been working on his skating for years allegedly. His defensive liabilities outweigh whatever offense he brings. I would move him

- Elbows15

Disagree again, Caggiula is perfectly molded for the playoffs. He’s got some skill with the puck and can keep up with anyone on his line while being aggressive in the corners and in front of net. Yes the injury history is a concern but for the price he should definitely stay

I just read JJ’s post mortem. He was notably high on Maatta and basically warned against losing/trading/buying him out. Called him the beat Hawks d-man in the playoffs.

Not really saying right or wrong, but I personally think that’s a stretch. I liked Murphy’s game the best.

- Chunk

I haven’t read a word of JJ’s work since he left this site and I have no intention to do so in the future. JJ often says things just to spark debate and insults you if you disagree.

Like I said before, Keith is the only d-man who should be safe. Seabrook will likely be safe too because of his contract. After that I’d rank them as Murphy, Maatta, de Haan and Koekkoek in terms of who us likely to stay. I’d keep Murphy for the duration of his current contract and beyond. I like both Maatta and de Haan but if they’re an opportunity to trade them and upgrade the team I’m ok with that. 4K is a very serviceable #7 but that role may be taken by #7.

The one thing going against him is that we have 3-4 guys waiting behind him that have the same attributes without the injury history.

I was looking for more analysis of Morrison and they had a write up. Followed the rabbit hole to the front page...

Yes I agree as far as the motors they have and aggressiveness (Highmore, hagel, maybe Entwistle). But as far as skill with the puck and scoring ability, Caggiula has them beat right now.

Just odd, that's all. I don't disagree with your statement at all. I saw it as an outsider. Never thought you would take part in calling JJ out, let alone instigating.

True, but in a flat cap world and Caggiula costing at least $1.5, I believe the cheaper options will win out. I think Caggiula is a good player that is worth the money. I just think the circumstances push him out.

You could be right, unless Stan decides to move on from Saad.

No shootouts in playoffs though he could face breaksways in games nevertheless. BTW How good is the smaller size MA Fleurey in thwarting breakaways

We are all crunching numbers trying to fit Crow and scrub in under the cap. There is no way that we could have (or can now) afford Lehner. He was no better than Crow behind the Hawks D. He is younger. That is the only benefit he has over Crow right now.

This isn't even an endorsement for Crow. The more I think about it the less I think he should be resigned and they just start over in net. I just think the Lehner joy isn't warranted.

Rutherford says the Penguins will likely trade one of Murray or Jarry and there has already been interest. Hopefully Stan’s been kicking the tires on Jarry.

What would his next contract look like? $3-4M per year?

Not sure how this would work, but this was on Twitter (I do not vouch for its accuracy):

Hearing the NHL and PA have had preliminary talks about next season. One proposal is to create 4 bubble cities, and rotating all 31 teams in those venues in 8 game increments.

At present, there’s no indication if all the cities would be in Canada.

But makes the most sense.

Francouz didn’t have a clue where that 3rd one was.

I guess the Avs probably should of traded for a goalie.

MacKinnon doing everything he can, wow, wow, wow, what a game
