Hahah great story. I know that it happens everywhere. I do love Montreal but boy do I love beating their team. There’s a lot of history and everyone here is a habs bruins or leafs fan ( god bless their souls).

Went to Boston with my wife one year. She got on line for beer and I went to the heads. Came back and she said one tall angy bruins fan got up in her face and yelled. You guys (frank)ing suck. She tried to ignore them but was not pleased. No need of that. I tell you, I love nothing more than being at the wfc. Watching a game as it’s my Mecca and I’ve been lucky to see quite a few. I don’t treat anyone like that don’t spit etc. Respect between hockey fans is my mantra.

You know who I stay clear off during the WFC games/ Those S-Jersey kids at the Orange Line stations. Drunk, rowdy, always looking to start something. Those subway stops are problematic because you get trapped in there.

Many times, I just walk home (its just 45 -1 hour from the rink to my house)

I have a gentle piece of advice for you, which really should not even be need to be said, so obvious is it.

The piece has already been posted. I posted it with good intentions at heart, but I understand you may not like it, and many others will not either.

Fair enough. I understand.

Now think about how you can limit the damage. By arguing with the poster about the damage already done by your estimation, or by ignoring it.

Anyway, I am done here.

I'm not gonna agree or disagree, just state that no one should be telling people what they can and cannot say.

Good to know. When I’m lucky enough to make it down there, I stay in a hotel close and my sister who lives in Virginia meets us and drives us around. I love philly but I try to be careful. Old City is so beautiful and seems same but I’m just a simple Canuck ya know. Gimme 10yuengling and jim’s steaks and I fit right in.

Of note, I want to come down for the parade but if it’s this year it’ll be sketchy haha. Parade over zoom?

They are playing well, I have a feeling the Caps were checked out before that series started, but that would be unfair to how well the Islanders played.
- PLindbergh31

Hopefully they are overconfident.

They were 3-0 against Florida in the regular season. Then they met a unmotivated Caps team.

This will be a completely different series. I am grateful that we don't have to face those jitterbugging Habs forwards anticipating every pass and playing as they are high on coke throughout the game. It should be a more traditional playoff series.

When the Flyers were on a hot streak, and the pandemic not yet upon us (3rd week feb), I shelled out on Ebay and bought two N95 masks for, umm, 10 times what they would cost. I gave away one to a hospital but have one saved in case there is a parad.

Also, don't let me scare you with the subway station story. Its fine. I just don't suffer fools gladly and don't need the aggravation of all the shouting and needing to be wary. Its not like you will be in danger or something.

People are acting like the Islanders are a combination of the 84 Oilers and 95 Devils.
Everyone is picking them to win this series, and their fans are acting like this series is over in 5 games.

Yeah. That’s cool. I’ve ridden the Boston subways with flyers jerseys and went to the bars close to td centre on st Patrick’s day on a Saturday after an afternoon flyer bruins game. I’m pretty brave. Haha. I’d go to a parade in a second but not sure the border services people would take kindly to the reason for coming to the states.

Expect the flyers are listening to everyone taking the isles and av will remind them. Trotz is a great coach and a no neck god, but av isn’t a slouch imo. Or what keeps his head up? Starch in his collar??

Flyers also pounded the Caps and had a great record against all of the good teams minus Tampa. It's going to be a tough series. I think the Flyers are as good or better defensively than the Isles. The Flyers have the better goalie. The Flyers forwards generally have a good track record of producing.

The series goes 6 or 7. I think the Flyers will win it.

So, how is that whole parade thing going to go for whatever team wins the cup this year?

Never mind them.

Statistically, it is more likely (but far from certain of course) that when people who have a stake in the outcome (like those wagering in betting markets) make predictions, the outcome they favor tends to come out on top (compared to opinion polls, even among experts)

Flyers not only opened as slight favorites (-110), the odds have moved in their favor (-129) last time I checked.

I think the Flyers will win too. Montreal although not as talented as Washington, was far more of a tight knit team and played very hard. So the Flyers struggled with Montreal, it happens. I'll tell you this, I believe Montreal would have beaten the Caps in a series as well. And Montreal beat the Penguins.

Reverse parade. Flyers stay in one spot and everyone drives by them.

Me too.

I was especially impressed by the adjustments AV was able to make to our game to strangle the Habs game and get us the win. It was not pretty, but it was all coaching.

I say 6 or 7. Today’s game will tell a lot. I think we’re a better team than we’re being credited for but it’s true we didn’t show well vs Montreal. People expected us to crush them and we have a young core that are learning to win imo.

I will tell you this. I believe our window to win a cup is opening now.

Caps looked like they were in such a funk. I’m not sure who they would’ve beat.

Also, for my money Backstrom has been one of the most underrated players of the last 10-15 years. His absence definitely hurt them.

Couple of things with the Caps.
1. Stanley Cup hangover.
2. Losing Trotz hurt them.
3 Rierden was clueless

You know who is clueless? Caps management. Guy wins t he cup, you don’t want to pay him, let him walk and now you suck. He even goes to a team in your div who beats you senseless. I’d be livid as a fan.

They got their cup that goes a long way, but yeah losing the coach after a Championship is pretty much unprecedented.

Then, you bring in 37 Ilya (frank)ing Kovalchuk.
