What an immense difference it made in the destiny of two teams when the Blackhawks got Kane.
Such a huge dropoff to JVR.

So at what point do we blame the coaching staff? I know Bill will name Alain Vigneault’s resume but I don’t give a poop. We had five potential 20 goal scorers, not including Voracek. Play all of them and play them in a position that works to their strengths. - SuperSchennBros
They played a solid second period. The first and third period was a disgrace. Seems like its the same issues constantly regardless of coach. |

These guys are paid to score...they aren’t ...they aren’t really getting many quality chances....some but not many. I guess I’m just not seeing what you are. You can’t show up every third or fourth shift. - landros 2
The quality chances aren’t there. This is what a trotz team does. You have to make your great chance count. Hayes has to score on the breakaway. Konecny has to bury that pass from Hayes
Poop on Hayes but he consistently is involved in the best chances. Giroux? Coots? |

I did. Somehow that’s not concerning really with what he’s been bringing. Lol. |

No goals... So yeah! - Bendecko
Why did they turn in such a poop show in the first? That goal cast its shadow throughout the game.
2nd period: lots of pressure, but could not break through. This made them lose focus, I think.
2rd period: bad plays by 5 and 6.
Bad play by Niskanen: lazy, disinterested stick check by #15. I think Provorov and Niskanen went on the same side to cover Barzal. I think they were pressing and got caught. Gotta see it again.
Islanders did everything they wanted to do. They scored bunch of goals, defended successfully during pressure, and caught us on counters.
Very disappointing. Not just the loss, but the manner.

Before we make Trotz Scotty Bowman, remind me of how many first round exits his Nashville teams had. |

Let’s keep hoping we get Ghost’s upside. He is what he is at this point in his career. Inconsistent, he doesn’t handle pressure deep in the dzone well at all.
Haag at least can win board battles. He’s no worse than Ghost with dzone clears under pressure.
Provorov jumps into play way more than Ghost does. - bird_dog_pa
Haag can't do what Gostisbehere can do. He reads and breaks up plays and quickly transitions the puck the other way creating offensive opportunities. It's not even close with the puck. I disagree that Gostisbehere doesn't handle pressure in the D zone. Nothing against Haag but if Gostisbehere plays well, which he is doing, it's not close. Gostisbehere has to be consistent.

Clench your buttocks, Flyers fans, this series is gonna be a bumpy ride.
We need to come out on fire at the drop of the puck. Need a big bounce-back in game 2. Need to finish on chances, and not be discouraged by this. We can play much better. |

If ghost isn’t scoring or helping produce offence he is most certainly a below average d man in his own zone.....I like Hagg better behind our blue line , but when your having trouble scoring as a team, can you really afford to sit Ghost?

Vigneault is clearly a Superior coach to Berube, Hakstol or Gordon. The last thing I want is to run him out of town. But I also want him to lose the ego and play the scorers when they aren’t scoring. I don’t even think Hakstol could get away with benching Wayne Simmonds, no matter how bad Simmonds was his final season as a Flyer. How does Vigneault get away with this? |

He’s a great coach are you kidding me. Those Nashville teams were annually cap floor teams. Give him a real team and he goes and wins a cup. And is probably going back |

You do gotta see it again. We can add another incorrect statement to the ledger. Provorov was on Eberle and Niskanen on Barzal. It was not a lazy play by Niskanen.

They have scored 11 goals in 7 games since the round robin concluded. Outside of a few players no one is scoring. They are desperate for offense. I'd consider dressing Frost for game 2. |

Aside from one egregious turnover ghost was ok for the most part. He stands plays up and shuts them down at the blue line better |

True, but the guy they missed out on in the Patrick draft hasn't shown signs of being a Hall of Famer.
It's one of the sports things, like the '79 World Series, I'll probably never get over!! |

That's the NHL game. Need to understand that no matter how well you defend, it's losing hockey. We need more offense and better transition play. Play more with the puck and then you don't have to defend as much. That is the name of the game.

I think we’re agreeing...???
My argument is to play the scores. I don’t have high hopes for Joel Farabee, Nicolas Aube-Kubel and Connor Bunnaman to carry us, two of which bottom six rookies. |

He did not play well tonight. Ghost absolutely has major issues deep in the dzone under pressure.
I’m no way did I suggest that Haag can play with the puck as well as Ghost.
Ghost just from memory had three major giveaways in the dzone causing the flyers to get caved in.
There was one in the third an isles player was pressuring Ghost. He had room to skate from behind the goal line. He shot the puck along the boards to a waiting isles player.
The flyers then hemmed in the flyers for over a minute.
Haag isn’t good with the puck but he has the ability to eat the puck and wait for help on a board battle.
I’d rather see Giroux, Couturier, and TK get with the program and at least play a solid game.
Couturier was terrible this game. |

I actually wasn't even referring to Nico. I mean if Patrick stays healthy, and develops even on a normal course, could we use him instead of say, Grant as 3C right now? |

The holy trinity has been here how many years now and just can’t get it done. Individually very good players; collectively like see it broken up.
Trade Laughton while his value is high this off season. |

You're crazy if you think that Gostisbehere didn't play well tonight. You're jsut dead wrong. The Flyers generated the most shot attempts with Gostisbehere on the ice. He had another strong game. How many goals was Gostisbehere on the ice for? |
