how much do you give him to get depth down the middle?
and good deal TOR, but that won't be enough

And they have needs elsewhere... need players to trade to get value back

Crosby and Malkin are gonna hate playing with Kap

Matthews and Tavares wanted nothing to do with him

Why, cause he was working hard and wanted to win ?

yep, I would expect him and Tatar to go if they want to extend Danault Gallagher and Petry
but now, not so sure Danault will want to stay. things will get interesting

Has the hockey iq of a newt and can't pass the puck to save his life. Great PK guy, love the speed and he can play with some tenacity every now and then. Can't pay that much for a 3rd line specialty player when you have no cap room.

that would create a gigantic hole in the lineup, expecially with two 20 y/o playing center. but they at least would get a great return if they Philip him.
we're not there yet.

not sure how much you can read into that. but one thing is certain before the playoffs it's not like the canadiens were "holding him back" offensively... Danault is a very smart hockey player but he's not known as a goal scorer

Maybe they flip him and keep Domi... maybe Poehling or Evans become options, maybe they sign a 3rd line C!

Danault will not be worth his next contract

50 points with 0 PP minutes. look around the league, look for excellent defensive centers who get that many points with 0 PP minutes.
let me know if you find any.

good point for the PP, it's been so horrible I'm not sure why they haven't explored other options

let say Danault accepts his role on the 3rd, let say he signs for 5x5, or even 5x6.
he would be worth every penny.
an excellent defensive center, great on FO, would can replace on the top6 in case of injuries, who can get his share of points as we saw the past 2 years...
THAT'S depth down the middle.
Domi can't win FO or play defense. as for his grit or being a playoffs beast, we all saw that the past few weeks.
will be interesting to watch things unfold
