Absolutely right

And the actual “lefties” who who fights with all the time on twitter that are Ranger fans actually want him gone and it effects how they feel about him as a hockey player.

I’ve never once said I want Tony D gone

I want our best offensive defenseman since Brian Leetch to worry about hockey and nothing else.

- jimbro83

Starting to see where you are coming from.
As for the Leetch comparison, he had Beuk to cover for him. Would love for ADA to have a Beuk.

Jerk.

From a purely hockey and $ perspective. I think we could benefit from moving Tony in a package for a 2C (more like a 1B to Mika’s 1A). We have so much offense/skill even without him and we don’t want to pay Strome for 7 years

- picklerick

No guarantee any of our prospects pan out. I'd rather keep ADA for two more years.

For gods sake Tony D is not our next leetch. It’s Fox. Fox is a gem, Tony is great offensively and that’s it.

Or get a serviceable RH dman in a trade to plug hole until rooks can handle it
- rrentz

Thats also an option. I would love for him to take a lower AAV and a slightly longer term if they can all work something out. Just my complete guess but Nils is probably, at the least, 2 years away. Next year cause he is staying in Sweden

Well advanced stats say he was our 2nd best defenseman behind Fox last year. I don't think Tony will be as good as Fox, but he also isn't as bad as I think people make him out to be.

Didn’t Nils have the best (or one of the best) under-20 offensive seasons a defensemans ever had in the SHL?

Fox is going to be a stud, no doubt about that.
Leetch is probably still my favorite Ranger.

I don't seeing him take another bridge deal, which could really help him and NYR, especially if he continues to improve. He'd get a monster contract as a UFA.

I think so, but I'm hedging my bets. Young defenseman don't seem to be able to make the jump to the NHL right away. Nils might, but i'm going with the odds.

Also if Tony lets say can be signed for like 4 years at a reasonable rate and he continues to improve, could be a real good trade chip down the line if they think Nils will be better

I think he might do better initially than miller will as nils is playing against men. But then again look at Makar. I’m excited for both and think/hope they’re not 2 years away

Yeah, Miller I'm excited for just because of the raw athleticism he has, but there are going to be some "oh poop" moments

Low blow. Who would have thought he would pan out like that. But, agreed, major mistake by the organization.

Give him a 2 year dead around $4.5, same as Strome.
- Fenrir

That's about as high and how much term I'd give him max as well.

I'm not sold on him defensively, He's one of those guys who I see as a constant defensive liability. I'm also not for paying him for a one year offensive performance.

If he balks, trade him. Get a number two center in a package deal.

I don't really think we should do much differently with Strome,

Maybe package them both for a #2 center and kill one bird with two stones...

We’d have to take a lot of cap back if we’re trading Strome and ADA to the same team

Would likely get a solid player though. Also, add their perceived cap hits together and you've got that number. What team would realistically trade a roster player for two RFAs not under contract?

What do the Leafs need to trade for DeAngelo?

Kapanen ?

Leetch was also able to defense with and without the puck. Played in every situation

Jan, when you bring ADA's political beliefs up and call them TOXIC, it thoroughly disgusts me. If you don't share his views, at least have the integrity to respect them. I'm sure you want others to respect your views without calling them TOXIC.
