Yea people are making to big of a deal out of this 3 LW thing. Panarin shoots right handed, I am sure he could play RW if need be
- TPC

yeah, that's what they are going to do

the top 6 for years is going to be

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Panarin

Kreider-unknown center-Kakko

I mean you can shuffle them up, but we have 5 of the top 6

I am guessing EA Sports thinks so

Not surprising, they don't know what hockey is.

I tend to agree but it's not always the case. Take a look at Ovechkin: Remember that clown that moved him to RW and he couldn't score bc he was not setup for his one-timer shot from the circle?

Yeah some players really thrive on their "off" side.

does that scenario happen 5 on 5? I feel like that is just a powerplay thing. How many one timers take place on the rush

Depends on the player and the offensive style. For teams that exclusively score on the rush it should help to play the natural side from a passing perspective. For teams that work the cycle more playing the off-wing allows them to pivot and face the offensive zone as well as alter the shooting angle significantly as the release point is more towards the center of the ice.

Ovi scores a crazy high percentage of his goals on one-timers and as you pointed out from the powerplay specifically so yes I cherry-picked an example.

My fear with Panarin is that he likes to use his legs to pivot and drive toward the middle of the ice at the high circle to shoot or feed the puck across from high to low. If he does that from the right side he is on his backhand and can't make that release. He chose to play LW for a reason and has had tremendous success. I wouldn't be making long term roster decisions until at least discussing the move with him if I was JG, JD, or DQ

I dont see Kreider as a guy that can move to the right

he's such a north-south player

to me, if Panarin doesn't move to the right, then maybe Lafreniere does

or Kreider becomes a 3rd line left wing and they all stay at left wing

He only has one breakaway move, not sure he can pull that backhanded shot off from the right side

I'm not sure I'd call treating the goalie like a bowling pin a move.

Need to pump the brakes on Laf going right to the top line!
How about we bring him along a bit more slowly with Chytil on the 3rd line?

Kreider - Zib - Buch
Panarin - Center - Kakko
Laf - Chytil - Gauthier
Lemieux - Howden - Rueschhoff

I guess it's possible right?

I really have no idea if he has ever played center

I saw a comment somewhere that said he took 30 some odd draws and won 12 and they used that sample size to say he should stay at wing.

I see it happened March 20th, that was definitely back when I thought I could die from Covid any minute
