He is 6"2 201 pounds.

I think he's been listed 201 for 10 years.

So you're saying people on a message board aren't as informed as the coach? Doesn't sound right.
- HawkintheD

While that may be true, I’m going to opine that 19 would say he’d by fine to go after the timeout. And BTW, the timeout also includes the time waiting for the coach to call it, the players skating slowly over to the bench, The actual time out, then skating slowly back to the face off. Elapsed time is over a minute.

The pros know how to milk a timeout and other stoppages to get as much breather time as possible. There are other methods, too.

Heck, even rec league players know how to do this and they need all the time they can get as they don't have the conditioning and endurance of pro players.

I'm sure he would and as a poster on this board I'm sure I'd have had him out there too. Not saying Colliton's right but when you originally posted your excerpt from the Athletic you left out the parts that described the guys Colliton sent out as actually being fairly effective.

I'm less sure whether he's the guy or not and I get you want JC gone, but at least be fair balanced, no?

Very good points.

The debate seems to be between getting the team's top players out there despite them being gassed and getting other players out there to get the job done with some of them executing on a few things (i.e. winning the draw) but collectively not accomplishing the ultimate goal of scoring the GTG.

As long as all players know what the general strategy is of who was going to be deployed in the final push, then I don't have an issue with it. However, if that wasn't communicated either in the moment or shortly after (i.e. in the locker room), then that could be problematic.

This is also a situation where Marc Crawford as a vet coach should have gotten in Colliton's ear to impart ways to cheat time so the ideal players like Toews could get as much time to rest as possible.

Maybe Crawford did do that? We don't know. Just all conjecture on my part.

I don't think the Hawks were as bad as the twelfth seed. I think the talent on the team puts them squarely in the 8 seed territory. They just need to get their act together. The more their young guys improve, the more that seed increases. A big factor in achieving that improvement is on the coaching staff. I'm 51/49 on whether the coaches can do it (always the optimist).

Regarding our Preds commenter, I doubt we get anyone like that from Vegas. The vast majority of Vegas fans I've met (about 70 so far) are actually very knowledgable and reasonable (mostly because a lot of them are transplants).

The Blackhawks are a lot closer to Vegas" capability if we could swap out 1) poor defensive players for good skating gritty type even if they are only as talented Kubalik and Pious figures to become. No more slow skaters on a third line and weak defensive effort. While DeBrincst may regain his scoring touch, as soon as this is evident I move him. And Strome will be replaced eventually by Barrett whom is more multi functional. Obviously we can approach the Vegas level also if our prospects on defense develop nicely. I see some time into the second season from now that the Blackhawks could become a stronger playoff force. Of coursr they need to keep drafting well too.

Tampa just realized a game was going on halfway through second. Halak looking good so far. I hate Boston, a lot, but I see them advancing. They look good with & without the puck.

I watched all of the TB CBJ series. Tampa was a much more talented team, but they seem like they are just going through the motions. I think they win one game this series.

Cbj gave them a run for their money, I think. You'd be the better judge on that. They didn't want to get swept again. Agree with you, probably one game.

Hey jhawk. That first statement is a lot of work. Especially considering the flat cap and the contracts that we have right now. I'm apparently much more bullish on ADB than many here. I know he had a down year, but having a true sniper on the team is essential in my eyes.

I while I don't see a decent replacement for him on the team (or system) right now, I don't see Strome on this team to start the year. If they can get him for the QO, fine, but, to me, he is just kind of there. I'm sure I'm selling him short, but his detriment is his skating, and his compete level.

Segue: does anyone know where Suter is expected to play? C or W?

Interesting question, he played center when Crawford coached him, and Crawford loved him as a player

CBJ has a couple of guys, but it seems to me like they have an entire team of Highmore's. Fundamentally sound, good D, work their tails off, and fight till the end. They just lost most of their actual talent at the end of last year.

I think if Tampa doesn’t get past Boston, Cooper will be fired.

With the cap staying flat, what would be the expected return for Strome? Also, what would be the expected return for Dcat?

I'm pulling for Van in this series, but all the youth on that team. They just look outmatched early on. They got speed & some talent, but they are outmuscled & just not as relentless on the puck.
