can they shelter his minutes in a third-line center role?
- Michael Pachla

I think that would be a good idea you just have to have a good vet I believe to keep his head Straight and so he doesn't get frustrated

you know me, i follow that stuff as much as anyone else...and you also know i have my opinions and i'm not afraid to jump in...what really gets to me is how personal it gets...really no need for that..

gonna be an interesting next 70+ days, especially with a refrigerator-sized asteroid coming our way and set to hit nov. 2:

p.s...I'm not a fan of that site but thought it'd be pretty ironic

- Michael Pachla

Yep, I also can have a attitude especially when I'm prodded.

And agree on the personal stuff, a lot of it borders on childish.

The Sabres need to win now ..... we can’t wait 2-3 years for the 8th overall to pan out

McGuire on TSN690: "Kapanen makes them (Pittsburgh) better now."

Says Penguins don't care about draft picks, they need to win now while 87, 71 and 58 still have some life in their legs.

Maybe this is the Sabres view except life in the legs of Jack is Buffalo on his chest.

Top Defensive Forward Share & more

20 Sean Monahan 20 CGY C

When Sean Monahan was 20 he finished 20th in the Selke award just behind Crosby. Has he fallen off the rails defensively over the years?

I haven't watched him enough.

- GilPerreault11

Good post, have asked the same.

Pretty unique situation, but I brought the same up to a CAL fan on Twitter. He said that it was more of a product of him scoring 30+ goals while having more d-zone than o-zone starts. Additionally, things like his takeaway to giveaway ratio were crazy.

CAL has steadily moved him to more of an offensive player, upping his o-zone starts (10% swing). And he's never been able to repeat that takeaway ratio, his block totals or his lofty DPS%. To put it in perspective, he had twice the blocks, takeaways (about 30% better ratio roughly) and twice as good of a DPS score.

So yeah, he either has gotten worse or, more likely, he wasn't ever amazing defensively but scored goals in a defensive role that year.

Get Monahan and Danault
- sbroads24

I have no idea what the collective cost of assets would be going the other way for both of those players, but that would be some offseason if they got both. It would be remarkable.

I thank you sir for bringing up a name I never even considered in Danault.

He was top 40 this year in even strength points per 60.

He's averaged nearly 60% defensive zone starts the past two years, and 58% the past three seasons.

He averages around 14.5 minutes of even strength ice time per game, roughly 2.5 minutes of penalty kill ice time per game, and a minute per game of power play time.

His defensive metrics are also very good.

He has one year left on his current deal at a $3.08M cap hit, while his actual salary this upcoming season is $3.25M.

I wonder what he would be looking for regarding his next deal, as he will be a UFA after next season. He'll be 28 when he signs that next deal, and if they can trade for him and get him extended quickly, he would be a very nice fit.

I wonder what Montreal would ask for him, as it seems like they are set with Suzuki and Kotkaniemi long term as their top 2 Centers.

If we rushed to win right now we might be in the same situation in 2 years but all our assets are gone if it's losing Jack eichel they we might have to swallow the bullet

If the playoffs are any indication, it leads you to playing golf with the Sabres after playing a few extra games.

The teams that can defend go far.

A second line of Skinner and Monahan would be the inverse of the LOG line.

We’d have to win games 6-5

I'm not big on giving up an 8th pick in a supposedly strong draft for a player who has questions right now like Monahan. I would like to get Monahan for other things but losing that pick will hurt. They better make it a bigger package and the Sabres get something else of good value if they do it.

How many Calgary games do you watch a year?

Taking Calgary fans word that Monahan is garbage is a bad idea. There are Sabres fans that think Eichel is also bad so......

If it was in a vacuum sure. But there are few centers available and many teams wanting to get Monahan.

Kapanen cost the 15th + a decent prospect. Monahan is going to cost you 8 there is no way around it IMO.

Monahan for 8
Risto for Nylander
Mitts and and 2021 2nd for Danault.

VO-Eichel-Reinhart
Nylander-Monahan-Danault
Kahun-Cozens-Johansson
Line 4

Edit just realized I forgot Skinner. He’s that much out of my mind right now.

Let’s try this.
