You guys who just like to build, and rebuild, and rebuild some more should just play NHL 20 and play pretend.

How many times (almost incessantly) have you said that if this roster isn't dealt with, Eichel is gone?

You have a hard on for an 8OA 18 year old who is a year or two away from just MAKING the roster, and likely 3-4 years away from REALLY making a meaningful impact just pushed Eichel away to his next team.

Then we can wait 5 more years for what?

(frank) that.

At this point it would be better off to set jack free but I would do it next summer

If you're getting Sean monahan for the 8th overall pick you... Just pack it up

But it does show the Sabres ability to select players.

Now we have inexperienced personnel thats going to make the pick. It doesn't ooze confidence.

- sgk56

The pick this year is not difficult, as they will have at worst 2 top players to choose from at the 8th pick. They are an ideal draft position, especially considering they could have moved down to 10th instead of 8th.

Could give Calgary our next 3 firsts for all I care.

Just not 8th OA.

This “should” be the last time we pick top 10 in the draft for a long time.

I don’t mind giving up latter half first round picks for a 2C.

The Sabres moving that pick for a Monahan gives us a 3 year cup window before we start another 10 year rebuild

- Pegullaville

If they trade 8 and then don't spend to the cap, it's a double loss.

I'm with you, they aren't in position to give up an 8 pick.

Everyone obsessed with high picks, the Edmonton Oilers and Buffalo Sabres say "hi".

Get the proven player in Mohahan and w Cozens, you're more than set up the middle for YEARS.

if your trying to get monahan for the 8th pick, you just gave the sabres a 3 year window to win

given how strong the bolts and bruins are going to be for the next 3 years, it's not a move I would make

I’m looking for the top 10 picks that were moved to acquire Kadri or Trocheck

Last time I checked we didn’t get a top 10 pick
For ROR.

Once again, going from one extreme from the other.

I never said to not trade for Monahan. Moving the 8th overall pick has us looking stupid 3 years from now.

If Monahan comes in and continues to put up 60-70 points a year, i think its a good deal.

It's playing the GM game of poker, telling them the 8th overall this year is not happening, with the 2021 1st being the best pick they can part with. Make them think there are plenty of other options (there are) the Sabres can explore.

The overvaluing of teh 8th OA pick is amaizing.

Be more like Pittsburgh, Trade away assets to get good players now. (Dont trade your 15th for Kapanen though)

Pittsburgh hasnt had a first round pick in how many years, and they seem to be doing alright.

You said Sheary was a 70 point player. I didn't know you were considering USHS Prep stats.

Calgary needs salary cap if they want Hall. Offer them 2021 first but top ten protected and Montour.

Monahan was bad last season. Use that as leverage for lesser going their way.
