ALso its one first round pick, its not like the Sabres wont have a 2nd this year and first round picks in future years.
- ImThatGuy

I never said to not trade the 2021 first rounder, just not the 8th OA pick

IS a really good hockey player.

Hasn't had an off year with 23 points yet.

- ImThatGuy

Scoring 45 points with Jack Eichel seems super hard. And I like Reinhart

The model of consistency is not (frank)ing up playing next to a superstar. What a bar

He is listed at 6'1 and 200 pounds on the Capfriendly site. That is too small?
- kingcong39

I think he means to fat him and Nick Ritchie would be good all you can eat buffet partners

Bo Horvat literally went one pick after Risto.

Was also the last time a top 10 pick was traded for a roster player (New Jersey acquires Schenider with that pick)

New Jersey looked like gang busters after two years but who would you rather have today ?

Horvat or Schneider.

I’m sure we’ll be saying the same thing a few years from now if we move the pick for Monahan.

- Pegullaville

It won't matter when Eichel is on his second team.

Thats why only 2 players in Jacks tenure have done it.............

Skinner and Reinhart.

Everyone else they have tried there has also done very well?

Maybe there is like this chemistry thing that you shouldn't mess with.

Could it also be that hes adding assists to Jack Eichels goals as well since he was naturally a play making center when drafted?
- ImThatGuy

I'm curious how many goals Sam gave to Jack

Mitts was an 8th overall pick.

So was Risto.

It's the 8th overall pick !!! And we are likely to get a superstar do not trade that pick
- gerbe75pts

Look at who went 8th overall in the last 20 drafts and then tell me it's got superstart written all over it. This draft is really good, yes, but #8 in by no means a guarantee, especially how we draft.

Monihan's defense is poor, but, he'd be playing vs. the 2nd line (instead of 1st line) and could be given offensive zone starts which would help this immensely.

I doubt this rumor becomes true, but.....

Would matter even more so.

Cozens and Lundell gives you two solid options down the middle.

We’d also acquire half a roster for Eichel in a trade if it came down to it.

I like Reinhart.

When he can be an elite scoring chance and shot provider away from Eichel I will consider him offensively as good as Skinner (He's not).

Reinhart is much better as a defender

If they are supposedly going lean and they are the team giving up the draft pick for the 6.3 mil salary and say 6.8 million or so for Sam, 10 mil for Jack, 9 mil for Skinner, 5.5 million for Risto, and soon a big contract for Dahlin, and 4 mil or so for VO. That doesn't look that lean unless something else is outa here in another deal sometime this offseason.

How about next years first and montour for mono

High doubt the flames take it. But the Canucks did something like that last year with JT Miller and it turned out pretty good

But it does show the Sabres ability to select players.

Now we have inexperienced personnel thats going to make the pick. It doesn't ooze confidence.

You guys who just like to build, and rebuild, and rebuild some more should just play NHL 20 and play pretend.

How many times (almost incessantly) have you said that if this roster isn't dealt with, Eichel is gone?

You have a hard on for an 8OA 18 year old who is a year or two away from just MAKING the roster, and likely 3-4 years away from REALLY making a meaningful impact just pushed Eichel away to his next team.

Then we can wait 5 more years for what?

(frank) that.

Could give Calgary our next 3 firsts for all I care.

Just not 8th OA.

This “should” be the last time we pick top 10 in the draft for a long time.

I don’t mind giving up latter half first round picks for a 2C.

The Sabres moving that pick for a Monahan gives us a 3 year cup window before we start another 10 year rebuild

Monahan has been averaging 63% offensive zone starts the past 5 seasons, and 61% the past 2 seasons.

He's already getting favorable zone starts.

Olofsson was on pace to have more points then both of those players if it were not for the injury.
