A 3 year bridge followed by an 8 year deal is tougher to pull off than you're making it out to be. It also gives him a quick and easy path to UFA.

Getting him to agree to an 8 year deal right now, that overpays him based on his play so far, is a tough task in itself. If they have the opportunity, they shouldn't think twice about locking him up.

- Lunaion

I just see people wishing we lock him up on the cheap now

that is a recipe for UFA as soon as he can get out of town IMO

Binnington wont even be in the league in a few years.

Him getting hot and getting the Blues to the playoffs has to be up there with the worse cases of Buffaluck ever

That a-hole singlehandedly costed us a top 15 pick.

12 yrs is better than nine, no doubt...but an 8yr deal at what would be a steal in 4-5 years offers value you don't get every day

I hope Adams and Dahlin's agent are having these talks now

Give him an 8 year deal and have it have three years at 7 million, 2 years at 10 million and 3 years at 11 million 74 million for 8 years . averages 9.25 a year. Or something like that.

I hope you're right...if they want redemption for all the idiocy that has happened under their watch, this season and next offer up prime opportunities to put it in the past and take a big step forward
- Michael Pachla

I hope I'm right too.

But to your point, every time I think we've hit rock bottom we've dug deeper.

So we'll see. I'm very excited to be here. At least GM ding dong is gone

His quickest route out of town is the Matthew Tkachuk special: a 3 year 21m bridge + a 1 year 9m QO. It's essentially a 4 year 30m deal.

That seems to be what you're pushing for. Then, try to extend him when he truly has all the cards. I don't want it to come to that.

An 8 year deal isn't going to be cheap. It will pay him significantly more than he's worth today.

Did you read that article where Adams didn't comment on Dahlin or Reinhart's contracts but said something about we want to look at everyone and see the fit within the organization or something like that.

That sounded ominous to me not for Dahlin but the other guy.

Haven't red the entire thing but red the excerpt...and, yeah, very ominous for skunk...i think all in sabreland would agree that there are two untouchables amongst the roster players--jack and dahlin

what does olofsson have to do with dahlin?

one is the best d prospect in 20 years, the other is a 7th rd pick

I would rather keep dahlin's rights as long as I could

- homiedclown

In terms of signing our good players to good contracts it is very relevant.

I am also on the lock olofsson up train because in 3 years when he has scored 30 a few times having him signed for a few more years at a bargain will ultimately help the team win

As presently constructed it's a complete abomination that would only be salvageable through a Calder season by Cozens and a miraculous performance in goal by... someone.

But two things allow me to dream at least until the puck drops:

There's still time to change the roster

And

A 20 or 24 team playoff format may be the norm moving forward

I'm still willing to see where this all goes. They did just make McDermott a top-third paid coaches in the league.

They gutted the hockey ops, but I can't blame them because it objectively sucked ass. Let's see what payroll looks like this year. They may just want to get the right people in place.

I'd say a majority of their PR problems are self inflicted because Terry is just a straight up weird guy. He is not a good public speaker.

What I'm saying is: This may not be about them crying poor; they may just be trying to turn the page and they have horrible messaging

I'd bridge VO, without a second thought. Not nearly the caliber of player that you lock up long term.

Well as long as they don’t relocate or file bankruptcy I guess they’ve done great.

They’ve been terrible owners. It’s all coming out publicly now.

Just because you wanted to take all your frustrations out on one guy doesn’t mean you should absolve the only common denominator over the past decade
