the oath from the official u.s. army website:

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

what i posted was totally true

- Michael Pachla

I know the oath, I took it. But any Embassy or base, or post you are at, that flag is very important.

i'm not saying it isn't...

but you don't take an oath to the flag, you take an oath to the constitution which includes the bill of rights which means you're taking an oath to defend every american whether you agree with them or not

Sure but if that flag were to be altered tomorrow to be something completely new, it wouldn't make a bit of difference. What would matter is the oath to protect the country. That never changes.

his statement

"I love and respect my teammates, and I stand right there with them in regard to fighting for racial equality and justice," Brees said. "I also stand with my grandfathers, who risked their lives for this country, and countless other military men and women who do it on a daily basis."

response

"extremely self-centered."

"And it's unfortunate because I considered you a friend. I looked up to you. You're somebody who I had a great deal of respect for. But sometimes you should shut the f--- up."

etc

and his response, was not good enough

"I believe we should all stand for the national anthem and respect our country and all those who sacrificed so much for our freedoms," Brees said via text message. "That includes all those who marched for women's suffrage in the 1920s and all those who marched in the civil rights movements and continue to march for racial equality. All of us ... EVERYONE ... represent that flag. Same way I respect all the citizens of our country ... no matter their race, color, religion.

"And I would ask anyone who has a problem with what I said to look at the way I live my life. Do I come across as someone who is not doing my absolute best to make this world a better place, to bring justice and equality to others, and hope & opportunity to those who don't have it? That's what I meant by actions speak louder than words. ... My ACTIONS speak for themselves."

And then he actually SPOKE to his teammates & ADMITTEDLY gain a much better understanding of what was going on

He wasn’t forced to change his mind

And he wasn’t “blackballed” in any way

Runs the 3rd worst state in the country.

Runs a state that is constantly in debt with a money maker that is NYC.

Sometimes oath taking is just doing as you're told. Like the pledge of allegiance.

Doing as you're told is patriotism.

you want to talk about some racist people, they HATE white people but love their tourist dollar

How would you like it if, say the Spanish showed up one day and said "we're in charge now, you can keep your precious president, and you're still your own country, but know that we're the power here." And then one day they kick the president out, install their own leader, and annex the country, eventually making it a province, just like Valencia is a province. Nevermind that we're 3000 miles away(at the closest) from the rest of their provinces. You'd probably be pretty bitter about it for a while.

Well 80% of African Americans identify as democrats and the murders in these cities are 95% committed by that demographic. So unless you can’t do 4th grade math...

Keep fighting the good fight bud.

Keep fighting and saying you are patriotic because you belong a a political party.

Political parties are why this country is in this mess.

My cousin worked at the border. It was a SH** show, still is a sh** show.

I have no problem with legal immigrants.

- ImThatGuy

My buddy married a woman from Mexico in November of 2018

Got an immigration lawyer & started the process a FULL YEAR before the marriage

It’s 3 months away now from being 3 YEARS since they started the process,
and she’s still not allowed to live here “legally”

Becoming “legal” is an utter joke,
and you obviously have no freaking clue about how ridiculous the process to do so is

I agree with you on the constitution. I'm just saying that taking an oath is no guarantee one will uphold that oath.

This. The constitution is the glue that keeps our Democracy together, the flag is a beautiful symbol. Many countries have flags with artwork but few have what the US has. The Bill of Rights; a constitution that is a living and breathing document supposedly making all people equal in the eyes of the courts even though they aren't in many of its people. If it wasn't for the Constitution and what it LEGALLY stands for many would run try to run the asylum at the detriment of others and our country.
