Well... when I went to sleep it was 3-0 Calgary. Seems like the game took a bit of a turn in favor of Dallas.

Seven unanswered goals... wow.

Just read a comment comparing this game to the 2019 Texans-Chiefs game - seems accurate.

Dallas comeback started midway through the 1st after Lucic took a goaltender interference penalty. Dumb penalty, he pushed a Dallas player into the goalie so it was an "indirect" goaltender interference call. Anyway Stars scored on the ensuing power play. They then erupted for 5 2nd period goals, one of which was on a PP after another Lucic penalty. Really dumb moves by a veteran player.

I wasn't following this series that closely and didn't realize Tkachuk got injured in game 2 and hasn't played since. Looks like Dallas took over the series at that time.

I don’t know what it says about the evolution of the game (or of me), but back in the 50s / 60s, a two goal lead was almost always “game over”.

At least, that’s how I remember it.

Faster game today? Ubiquitous slap shots and one timers with (slightly) curved sticks? More players at the net screening goalies, more deflections?

Only partially offset by better equipment leading to more blocked shots and goalie stops.

A packed defense back in the day could be impenetrable.

Touch up offside so that you can get on the forecheck quicker, no center line offside which stretches the defense, stretching the blue lines which means more territory to defend, and tighter enforcement of hooking and slashing (can't slash he stick and
break it, a penalty now, anything to the hands is a penalty now).

Do you remember the days when the teams playing the Hawks were lucky to get 20 shots on net where there might be 2 or 3 quality chances. And when the other team did score, they were lucky bounces. But now, yikes. lol

Just saw video of Niskanen’s cross check that broke Gallagher’s jaw.

One game suspension.

Not enough.

What bothered me even more was the smirk on Nik's coach's face in his explanation that the size difference in the players is what "caused" the "accident."

Alain Vigneault has been a coach who seems to encourage over the line physicality like when he played.

V was a back stabbin chicken poop when he played, so of course he said that.

I just saw you similar comments now.

I would love words with Alain.

(Maybe I do have a death wish, but he needs someone in him face)

Toews. Next. Zary would be nice
Oh what a draft. If they managed to bring some Stolli..
Uh.......i mean some Russian Askarov to the wide screen monitor thing. Social distancing you know. Oh about distancing.......what Blackhawks are leaving?

- jhawk59

I think the ones that leave will be by trade and buyout. I think Stan will sign just about all our RFA's and FA's unless they get a better offer, which is really 4k and Cags, I don't think Hawks get outbid for Crow. I think Seeler gone, 1-2 of the 4 stooges goalies counting Suban gone.

Isnt Boqvist known for his ability to get shots through?
- just69sayin

Actually his biggest strength in past leagues is attacking the net.
Actaully taking the shot.

Sure finding teammates too, but I am pretty certain that the team's emphasis with him was to have him stay back learn the position as a defender and take the occasional chance in.

I am pretty sure there was a leash.

Maybe it was around the game before last, I posted that they ought to simply let him abandon the back and go to the net, as a set play.

It happened once after that, and like Dach, and all the kids they are hesitant to NOT pass it to the stars. Part is reverence, part of it is confidence in those big guys abilities over their own, and after a awhile they all have to see themselves as difference makers, or they won't be.

There were plenty of comparison in their draft year with Vancouver's Hughes always being the better, but there was strong value in the things Boqvist could do as well.

Well, here is what happens. A year of college gave Hughes needed developmental time and didn't stifle his offensive side.

The Hawks felt injuries HAD to advance Boqvist to the bigs and I am sure it wasn't a relaxing comfortable situation that a college year would be in that comparison/

BUT the results so far---> What you see when Hughes has the puck is not the opposition thinking soon the puck is gone and we can run him small ass to submission...the opposition, due to Hughe's excelled offensive results with passes and shots and moves...Hughes gets respect to where they back off of him, more respectful that they will be out of the defense of his actions. (did that make sense?)

Hughes already gets less targets, and it is BECAUSE he was let loose to create.
