Good point, but the isles, Vegas have great 4th lines, and they are making them very difficult to beat. Gotta spend some $$ in supttort/role players. NYR 3rd/4th lines can't be a carousel for players in the dog house

We do not need to bring back Strome there is no reason we cannot trade TDA since we are shoulder deep in D and acquire a center like Kapanen who is a FIN which would work out great for a few reasons! Kapanen cap hit is 3.2M for another 2 seasons while Strome will cost 5.5M to 6M for 4 to 5 years. Having our future rock star Kakko since he is also a FIN would be a great match up as Kapanen could bring him along and this would saves us almost 3M in cap space. We could also trade Strome for a late first round or an early 2nd round pick or a good prospect center! This would also mean we do not have to trade Fast which I believe to be a bad move! He plays a great D roll and puts the puck in the net from time to time. If you add up all the moves your looking at a savings in cap space of about 7M considering if the Rangers sign TDA and then trade him.

Alright, let's get back to Fast and why he won't be here next season.

I just like fast's game and attitude (also probably a bit of sentimental value in there). he can't be getting that big/long term of a contract that it materially impacts our cap situation. i'd love to keep him

What other tremendous assets did Hagelin possess other than speed? He was useful and I liked him on our roster, but I don't think I'm wrong here.
Hags would get 3 breakaways per game and had a shooting %age of about 3.5. Fast's IQ is miles ahead and he is as defensively sound as any forward in the game.
