Oh dear god let’s not play trap hockey.

This is NOT the NJ style Trap of the dead puck era. Id rather have teeth pulled than that...

It is a much different style of trap, one used by the Canadiens of Scotty Bowman...
Kind of like what the 1991-92 Pens did after falling behind 3-1 to the Caps....
That is far more entertaining to watch than the garbage the Devils threw at us for years.

Good analysis. One thing I've noticed is that Sully tends to blunt any "edge" players with his "just play" mantra. Even goons come here and look disinterested.

Agree about needing skill guys creating on their own - too many passengers but also not enough net-drivers and low slot guys. Like 1.5 with Horny and Rust. We're a perimeter team. I was thinking we should play Toronto in an exhibition series and call it the Breakout Perimeter Classic or something.

Yea he even tamed Tanev this year. I thought Tanev was gonna be more of a wiener to play against. I think sully holds him back.

Sully played like an absolute wussy and coaches like one. Quite honestly it makes it boring for the players I think.

Clearly they didnt score enough....
Honestly you can contribute offensively without having to turn up on the scoresheet. Drive play, create zone time, wear down the other team. This line wasnt doing that either

If you’re a fourth line and play against the other teams scorers and they don’t score that absolutely wears them down.

Don't think this was mentioned, but the Pens signed Steven's son and Marino's frequent teammate Luke.

He was a 5th round pick by the Canes who didn't sign, so it's not just nepotism. 6'4" 215. Not really big scoring totals so not sure what to expect

I'm hopeful but....big guy and lack of offense usually doesnt end well. Even ZAR scored a lot at that level.

After reading Taylor Haase's article today... would love to get Maniscalco

It can frustrate them, but not necessarily wear them down. See Colorado vs Arizona.
More likely, the constant offensive pressure from the other team's scorers will wear down your defense or goaltender.
