I think you put on delicate gloves with an Adam Boqvist demotion.
I think Boqvist knows what he has to do to be a playoff performer and firstly a NHL defenseman.
Positionally, Ian Mitchell is far ahead of Adam as a defender, but I agree, there may be a chasm there for a direct touch down in the bigs, so I think they go slow with him and the other defenseman prospects unless they know the NHL doors off and cause press box seatings for the older vet defenders.

Mitchell's footwork, positioning and anticipation impress me. We'll see how he does against the big boys, but he seems to have a good starting point.

Sorry wiz but elite prospects has bio on morrison

I like what I read...and 13 points in 17 playoff games. Not too bad for a LW.

Someone else mention him first i just followed up with some info. LW 6 2 200lbs. 4 years at Norte dame so good on bowman getting size on the wing. Maybe wiz would have more details on him and his game.
- Scott1977

Not a bad pick up. Could fill a need in the current roster if/when he's ready--assuming that Hawks don't pick up some size and/or grit before then. I think he may even be up around 212 lbs now. Good size for an NHL power forward

The #Blackhawks  have signed free agent 21 y/o LW Cameron Morrison to 2 year Entry Level Deal. Drafted 2nd Round by Colorado ‘16 & did not sign with them this week, becoming free agent. Pursued by several teams.

27 Points in 37 games at Notre Dame.

- Blackhawks8712

I question the timing of this deal. Did Stan really need to sign Morrison now?

Man, I simply forgot this player, and have ignored him since his draft year. I dunno, did he get injured at Notre Dame? Or did he simply want to finish college? Anyway, it might be to the Hawk organization's advantage.
I remember some draft prognosticators has him in the late first round in 2016, but I simply didn't see him enough to separate any qualities for me to have a love affair with him. He had upside to possible 2nd liner, with many parts of the game and his style kinda compared to Max Pacioretty but please I said compares...

https://www.draftsite.com...r/cameron-morrison/23947/

Here, I will go from my notes;
Big skilled winger who a rookie in the USHL. He is one of the younger players in the draft class, and is big strong and physical. Displays a high hockey IQ, reacting without hesitation inside of his two-way game. Has a good first step is decent speed to accentuate his two way game. Has size, a good wall game and an active stick, and plays on the penalty-kill and will see time on the power play. Gets terrific torque on his snap shot and can knock goalies backwards, as he hides the release points on all his shots well. Finds open seams at opportune times. He dominates below the circles as he is strong as an ox. Handles the puck well and is good at recieving hard quick passes. The type of player who can easily slide up and down the forward lines and contribute. He's smart with the puck on his stick, and uses his size to drive to the blue paint and along the boards, and owns the wall on the cycle, as he plays hard on his stick and is impossible to move off the puck in the cycle. Carries junior players on his back on his way to the net. Committed to the University of Notre Dame, he has the makings of a power forward when he adds more muscle and jump, and channels it by using his size. Needs time.

John Hayden has size too, how did he work out? This signing will be another Bowman fail and Morrison will be AHL fodder.

Hoping he can contribute in the bottom six with a couple of seasons. Still a crapshoot since he wasn't one of the Avs top prospects, but he could sure fill a need on the Hawks if he develops

Now i want to know more about this Blackhawk free agent sign a few months ago. He is this big tough guy, a good fighter, from the Western Junior League and was signed for Rockford. I believe I saw something where he does have some skill. But is reknown for his toughness.

It is the battlers like him, Johnson, maybe Entwhistle, surely Soderlund if he develops, an agitator like Barrett: we need these type on botton lines with Highmore and Hagel. Even Fortin. It is good to have many whom could fit in since eventually not all will make the grade here.

- jhawk59

I think you're referring to Dach's former Saskatoon teammate Riley McKay. Him or D.J. Busdeker who played at Saginaw. McKay is the tough enforcer.

Busdeker is a strong defensive winger who hustles, plays with energy, and is capable of playing on the blueline.

Although the likelihood is low for both of them, I would wager that Busdeker has the better chance at making the NHL whether with Chicago or another organization.

Both have great compete levels but Busdeker is more versatile and skilled.

Mack could have really hurt Fisher if he had a little better fighting technique and a pound more meanness.

When Mackinnon gets rolling he's like a 18 wheeler going at top speed downhill.

And he makes about $5million/year less than each of Tavares, Mathews and Marner. In fact, he makes less than William Nylander.

Avs have all the ingredients for a Cup. Skill, Speed, Scoring Depth, Physicality. With good injury luck and adequate play by Grubauer, Avs will win the Cup. Love the fire, intensity, and strength that Mackinnon brings with his speed and skill. Kadri playing great too.

Stanbo has gone rogue without the guidance of McD.

He signs this big guy Morrison, drafts 6'6 Vlasic and 6'3" Michal Teply last year. Maybe he's saving a big signing announcement of a 137 lb high skill defenceman from the Chinese league.

The Blackhawks loaned forward Matej Chalupa to Mountfield HK or Czech Extraliga. Another wasted Bowman signing.

Great news! Always great to snag a former 2nd rounder.

I don't know much about him but on paper he looks good.

@Theo - any intel?

Hey, Pat, yes it was you (and Scott1977) who also wanted Chicago to stake their claim on Morrison. Sorry I forgot. Great call!

Next, predict the winning lotto numbers. Powerball and Mega Millions preferably.

Played a few games on the same junior team as Dylan Sikura 6 or 7 years ago. What more reason do you want for the signing?

First Wyatt Kalynuk now Cam Morrison. I don’t think Blackhawks fans can complain about losing college prospects anymore.

He should have waiting and signed Morrison to the league minimum.
