If I were Sam, I'd take the 2 at $5.9m.
After those 2 seasons are completed, he becomes a UFA when the Cap will begin to recuperate and a new TV contract are in the books.
He should then earn his payday at age 26.

- IonSabres

Well, it's a good thing the Sabres still have a say.

Not as much as you may think, he is Arb eligible.
He selects Arb, Sabres select 1 or 2 year term.
If 1, he goes Arb again.
He's in a relatively good place.
He ain't going to be cheap.

If Hawks want pick 1, I think it's Debrincat, Kubalik, Murphy, 20 and 21 1st.

The cap is only currently scheduled to go up I believe a million dollars in 3 years, but overall, if you are the Sabres, why would you even offer that deal?

If you cannot commit to Reinhart for at least 4 years, if not longer, at a cap hit you are ok with, you should absolutely trade him over signing him to a deal that brings him right to his UFA status.

I highly doubt the Sabres will offer a 2 year deal.

Soooo being the 2nd highest scorer isn't "one of our best scorers"?

What's your degree in again?

Nothing would change if we got nothing back. Get the (frank) out of here.

Please tell what signing sam does ? I would rather move him for a center and some depth
And you can draft his replacement at the draft or get a young guy a try him with jack like Bennett

Say what you will about how the virus has been handled in this country, but the fact that it's well-known that the overweight are vulnerable to it has motivated a number of people to lose weight and get in shape.

I'm definitely not telling you he's irreplaceable. I would certainly consider any and all proposals with a 2C coming back.

However.

You stated you'd trade him for picks and prospects, and that would undoubtedly make this team worse next year. Not even a (frank)ing question.

That is the 3rd most likely contract per Evolving Hockey.
- kingcong39

There's hope then at least.

All these 8m+ deals just seem outrageous given the static cap and other comparable contracts.

We're replacing him with a 3rd-4th liner?

Then, signing Sam would make you a significantly better team to answer the first question.

Good post. He should be on the table if we can massively improve the team. Trading him for picks, prospects or replacing him with 4th liners probably isn't going to make us better any time soon, if ever.

There's a ton of risk if he goes the year to year route. It's why they have such a low likelihood on the 1 year deal.

The Sabres should never offer 2 years.
