I view Bonino as the Mendoza line for 2C candidates

Below you have Bjustead, Soderberg, Galchenyuk

Above you have Cirelli, Staal, Monahan

Right in the middle is Bonino. He works for me though.

Andrew Copp is the line for me.

He’s not an adequate 2C, but for a year that’s fine and he’s a prototype 3C

Yes age is important the body breaks down and you get tired very easy ..

Cool let's say we trade for staal and by game 50 he's done and we're in trouble going into the playoffs

Jack will be pissed that he has to do everything again

- gerbe75pts

He had 8 pts in the last 12 games of the regular season.

Regardless, the way I look at it, the optimal situation is a 50+ point center either with 1 or 2 years left on a deal, or an RFA who could be bridged and then maybe traded at the end when cozens is ready.

When you're talking about a player for 1-2 years, age is largely irrelevant

But there's absolutely no evidence that would happen or is even a potential likely outcome. He has missed 26 regular season games in his entire 16-year career. It's 25 games if you give him credit for the season he played 83 regular season games.

EDIT: He would've been the third-highest scoring player on the Sabres this season.

the problem is if cozens does not become a center we're pretty sunk right?

i would understand if cozens played 30- 40 games and then we could be ike oh ok center he is ...

Kerfoot and Kapanen? Or just one of them?

Who’s heading out?

I literally said I don’t. But if he’s the center addition I’m good.

I’m not moving a ton of assets for a guy to eventually get replaced by Cozens.

Stop gap or young 3C is my target

Gotcha, so youre not looking for a stop gap, you want a guy with a longer future. Who's your top-3?

Eric staal could be the perfect addition. Fits timeline, position and ability. Should command respect in the room. Banking on him not falling off a cliff production wise is probably a good bet.

If it works out perhaps he resigns to play behind eichel and cozens* and gives us the center depth we have so desperately been seeking

Cant give up much though. If it is mittelstadt a pick or prospect has to come back with him

Kapanen has speed for days but really doesn’t do much with it.

I think Kerfoot would make a fine 3C though.

This is why Lundell would be my pick this year (barring Rossi/Raymond not being there)

Can’t hurt to double down on the position. I honestly think wingers are easy to find as long as you have the horses down the middle

Comeau must do something like PK

Kerfoot's underlying numbers are not inspiring.

Jack might like it because he knows what winning teams have and sees what the playoff teams have. Complete players, with character something the Sabres lack.

with us in front of the wild we could Pressure them into giving us a 2nd round pick to move 1 spot back so they can take Anton Lundell
