People are way to hung up on specifying a center is a 2nd line or 3rd line fit.

That's a way to set yourself up to be disappointed.

The realistic targets are all 3rd line quality (Henrique, Copp, etc.), but the point is that getting two quality, real centers and putting them in the middle of the 2nd and 3rd lines would go a long, long way towards improving the on ice product instead of waiting on hopes and dreams like has been the case the past 2 seasons.

- kingcong39

Henrique at least for the next two seasons(IMO) is a 2nd line center. He had 7 straight 40+ point seasons. Is he on the lower end of 2nd line guys? Absolutely, but it is second line production.

What's there to blow up? They don't even have 2 lines of offense!

This all lands on the Pegulas. They fired Regier and George McFly and had a plan. They brought in LaFontaine and Ted Nolan.

They should have listened to LaFontaine, and let him have the reigns
.

Now it's let's just throw darts at a board for a GM and HC...

I don't know man he couldn't keep the top job of two NHL teams fo much more than a month. That is a red flag, a big red flag.

I think my point was hang on for some big, shocking moves to get this team jump started because if they go the same route with the same talent which is negligible then it might be uglier next spring/summer.

I'm generally for this, but I'm not so sure I trust the people in charge to make the calls.

Got nothing on our GM, and the HC?? His season was in incomplete...

This was posted again today and it is accurate and funny. We have a lot of these on here the eternal optimists. Or even a few hybrids who are angry at everyone who doesn't put on the skates. Ralph, Kim, Kevyn, Terry. I have been blocked by Paul Hamilton for saying ass.

The Eight People you Meet on Sabres Twitter

The Eternal Optimist

It’s been a rough decade for the Sabres. Yet for some, hope springs eternal. This person is typically the one saying “we need to see more of” a player who has lived long past their shelf life. Every goalie in the system is above a 3.50 GAA and sporting a .875 save percentage? Worry not, someone is due for a hot streak. Even when the team is at rock bottom, the eternal optimist is bullish on their future and will remind you of that routinely.

While the Eternal Optimist Sabres fan might hold some silly views on our favorite team, they’re vitally important. They’re the ones keeping the bus from falling off the edge while the rest of us yell and scream about line combinations, deployment, jersey colors and everything else.

"I like Johan Larsson and Zemgus Girgensons. I really do. I dont think they've done anything wrong. I liked their line this past year. And I don’t want them back. I think it's time to move on from guys who have lost, and lost, and lost, and lost and lost."

Remember on here when he wasn't much more than an AHL player and people couldn't get him out of here fast enough? Good times.

Which is fine with me and I predicted that weeks, months ago. It is easy to read when people are unhappy and want to get the heck out of here.

Larry is a 3C imo. He was used like one this season and that line had one of the best positive impacts in the NHL.

I wish him luck, and that’s another hole we will have to fill for next year.

They haven't done anything with him and he had a decent year. He has had many not so good years so don't go and be the eternal optimist and lament the loss of a fourth line center who couldn't hit 20 pts and had more down years than up.

Time for new blood and it is time for Larry to get a fresh start.

Kevyn Adams says organization has not discussed not giving Brandon Montour a qualifying offer. The RFA is due a $3.525 QO and will request a raise. Adams says discussions about Montour have been good with coaching staff.

I figured that was the case. As usual, the internet runs amuck with false rumors.
