Do you have examples of other teams that have come back from terrible losses in the playoffs? My memory sucks. I’m serious. It might make me feel better about things if I knew other teams did it.

Toronto vs. Columbus last series....Toronto dominated them in game 2....It was 3-0 , it should have been 7-0. Columbus turned it around the next one out. They also blew a 3 goal lead with 4 minutes left....a total collapse in game 4....yet were the better team in game 5. My point is we all know the Flyers can elevate their play and be a dominant team. Will they ? I hope so.

News flash for you just go back to when he was in Vancouver go back and look at the Ottawa series plenty of facts I didn’t say it was going to happen here and it was just an observation so there’s your news flash.

That was already addressed. What else happened while he was in Vancouver and NY?

I was fortunate enough to only see the third period and highlights from 1 and 2. So some my opinions may be off base.

Braun has been our worst defenseman this series. Id give hagg a chance. Sanheim myers struggled game 2 and sanheim was meh game 1. Id consider myers ghost, sanheim hagg. What could it hurt ? I dont think ghost was the worst defenseman on that pairing in any game.

The first line needs life injected. Can tk do that ? Put jake back ? Even our prolific laughton hayes tk line has been ok at best. And farabee isn't completely ready for this series. Has glimpses but id consider changing him out. Pitlick is one the few I see still having his skates all game and NOT taking dumb penalties (looking at you nak)

G coots tk
Laughton hayes jake
Jvr grant pitlick
Bunny thompson nak

Niskanen provy
Ghost myers
Sanheim hagg

What could it hurt ?

Overall though I saw a team that didn't even have the energy to defend themselves. I hope they stayed up all night stewing in rage with a bubble that allows for nothing else.

And we got outplayed but cmon refs. That was horribly officiated. Even during a slaughter. This same group when they ref games seems to have issues.

Replacing Braun with Haag is a mistake. In a game situation like yesterday, when the Flyers were completely outplayed, do you honestly think Haag is going to far better than Braun? No defenseman of Braun's caliber is going to look good in that situation. With a complete lack of team support. Turnovers, bad coverage's often leads to fire drills and defenseman running around. The Flyers forwards as a whole were awful in both ends of the ice.
The Hayes line hasn't been close to okay. Hayes himself has played really poorly.

Addressed by who? It’s exactly like you said every coach has a shelf life all I was trying to point out is I hope it doesn’t happen sooner rather than later in philly and like I said I am not a fan of the flyers and I’m sure your not a fan of the rangers I was trying to point out how av struggled in Vancouver and ny in the playoffs and that it would be a shame if it happened in philly now that’s it as long as philly is not playing the rangers I don’t really care what happens and like I said it probably wasn’t avs coaching last game I just wanted to point out what could happen next game there’s your news flash good luck the rest of the series.

I'll ask again. What else happened in Vancover and NY when AV was there?

You've now moved from insinuating it was coaching to now it probably wasn't coaching. Progress.

I hope so too. Unfortunately their “best” veteran players have not shown up, really, in any game so far.

Game 1
Period 1 - Dominant
Period 2 - Terrible
Period 3 - Hung on

Game 2
Period 1 - Terrible
Period 2 - Terrible
Period 3 - Terrible

All they can do is come back with a better effort because it really can’t get any worse. As it stands, we haven’t scored in 4 straight periods.

- SuperSchennBros

3rd pd of Game 1: Flyers had a 13-6 shot edge, 58.33% Corsi, and were never in any prolonged trouble. All that was lacking was an insurance goal, and they'd have had that if Thompson had put the puck in a gaping net.

That isn't "holding on." That's slamming the door.

Agree with you about the other periods.

He’s only been here a year. Every coach gets fired eventually. Seems a bit premature to bring it up now after one bad game.

Absolutely right! My whole point is it can happen at anytime. I was just saying it will be interesting to see if and how av will handle Sunday’s game. Philly could come out and female dog slap Montreal I’m just saying it will be interesting to see what he does that’s all.

Flyers hopefully use this as a wake the (frank) up call. My beer league team could have nailed thy effort in.

Good thing is a loss no matter how ugly counts only as one.

Good teams have short term memory and bounce back.

Vigneault is five-time Jack Adams Award finalist, may have won it a 2nd time this year, has taken two teams to the Stanley Cup Finals. Flyers were 9-1-0 in their last 10 games before the postseason, are 4-1 in the postseason and this series is tied at 1-1.

It's not the coaching.

Montreal want it more. Flyers could easily be down 2-0. I would have thought game 1 would be a wake up call for them even though they won.

I don't want to take full credit for this because I think it was mentioned in yesterday's thread, but their is some glaring signs of a team that battled through the qualifying round vs a team that was just playing for seeding.

I don't want to say the Flyers coasted but they were moving on regardless. Habs were clawing and scratching for their lifes and it's showing in this round.

Really want to see the Flyers come out like Montreal did yesterday to open the game. Not saying they need a goal in the first minute. I want to see some intensity.

Habs are playing an impressive game. Speed and forecheck.... defend and protect Carey! Next game Flyers will try to run Carey like they did in game 1. Domi crashing in Elliott was a warning! An eye for an eye! We are well aware of what a Vigneault team will do to win.

Stop with this nonsense, game 1 was good outside of the second period. We had great chances for a few more goals, Thompson and Giroux post come to mind. If they lay an egg Sunday it’s an issue but if we come back and take this series I do not give a damn about game 2.

I’m not trolling here but this was the problem with av in New York he’s a great regular season coach but in the playoffs he is very stubborn and tends to get out coached and leans to hard on his veteran guys. I’m not going to say it will happen here but it will be interesting to watch. Make no mistake the only team I dislike more than the flyers is the piles but having said that it would be a shame to see a team as talented as the flyers lose because they were out coached.

Didn't AV take the Rags to the Finals?

Yesterday's game reminded me of games 3 and 4 of the 2018 Pittsburgh series. Outskated and crushed from the opening drop, blown out, and overall pathetic.

That year, they won game 5 and, if not for Provorov having one working shoulder and Gudas not blindly throwing pucks up the wall, were in line to win Game 6.

Yesterday was awful, no way to sugar coat it. But they can rebound and, as a fan, all we can do is hope they figure it out.

Agreed....the Flyers didn’t play a great game one, but it’s not like MTL played worth a poop as well.

I see people mentioning lineup changes? Exactly what lineup changes would you want? Maybe remove Ghost and or Braun, but the bottom line is your best players have to be your best players. The Flyers have ZERO goals from their top 5 goal scorers in the regular season. If that doesn't change soon they will be golfing by this time next week. Based on yesterday's effort, maybe they prefer golf over hockey.

If Raffl is ready to play, he's in and Farabee is out. Agree completely with the rest.
