Your "best" players need to lead. They are making HALF the cap.

They didn't.

- Aetherial

Those best players are the only reason that series went 5 games.

Hyman and Robertson are the only forwards who scored a goal not named AM34, BillNy, or Snakevares. Cody (frank)ing Ceci had more goals than all other forwards combined.

That's (frank)ing unacceptable.

Then again, please note that Tampa has managed just 4 goals against the Jackets in 8 periods of hockey. So maybe there's something to be said about the CBJ goaltending and ability to stifle offense?

Maybe? I do like Khaira and he'd fill a role here. Still I'd rather have Nurse.
- PatC80

And I’d rather have Marner.

Alas, we’ve reached an impasse.

It's easy to see the problem, not so easy to fix.

Which is why taking Robertson out and putting Johnsson in made perfect sense.

Players are so much the smallest part of the problems with this franchise.

Good take & says even more about the underlying problems. DEPTH needed but no cap to do so. Some changes needed.

Their is lots of talent but it comes back to the make up of the roster is the big issue.

Too soft overall but big firepower. Need warriors & better balance.

I remember referring to this situation as cap hell years ago. Was mocked. But I like that.

He’d fetch the pieces needed if a deal is found. I suggested Zadorov Donskoi Byram.

Gain some cap room & size & grit.

If the players see the club as being run by buffoons it doesn't matter. JT bought it. No one else will.

JT is elite but I expect a lot more for 11m in the PO’s. He is what he is but other leaders take it to a higher level. He didn’t. It’s not all on him it is again the roster.

A defensive D man is a big add for sure. Why Tanev gets no love idk not that he is moving as of yet.

THIS year at least...depth won’t be an issue with free agency.

Plenty of good players getting squeezed to 1 mil contracts.

I firmly believe the players reject what is going on entirely. They saw Babs and his bullpoop and the way he treated guys. Spezza opening day for example. Then now they get behind a great kid who worked his ass off to play and they see him get sat for a guy who hadn't played in months. Richarding around with the lines in an elimination game.

These are people. Just think about it. If you think your bosses are either Richards or incompetent you don't say jack poop. If you work hourly you may even praise them just to get by. But when you have guaranteed money no matter what and could walk away tomorrow and it doesn't matter other than your hockey legacy, you will not accept bullpoop. I'm not saying the players shouldn't do their jobs regardless, but we all know pro athletes can be fickle. Either way, it's a total mess. Way worse than people realize.

Next year will be the same. And the year after that.

I thought JT was pretty damn good.

Mickey sucked...but it’s fine, he’s a top 9 forward I don’t expect consistency. With the way Kerfoot was playing it’d be nice to have him with JT but they had no other option at 3C

The Leafs need to completely revamp their bottom 6. Get an actual checking/shutdown 3rd line and a tough, physical grind it out 4th line. We can't continue having offensive minded players in the bottom 6.
Kapanen is not a good fit as a 3rd line RW as he's not that responsible defensively

They were a top team in the league with Keefe....if it was reversed and Babs was behind the bench for half a season you’d be crying to give him more than half a season...half a season where he pulled his team out of 22nd in a he league and back into playoff contention.

Actually the Keefe situation shows my point. They had a honeymoon period and then played under 500 until the stop. This regime has utterly lost the players. And that's their fault also for giving a bunch of kids too much money. It's a total mess you guys. I'm telling you. It gets way worse before it gets better.

Asset management & human resources is the same thing in all walks of life. To get the most outta someone takes skill & knowledge. Every player is different & handled different I don’t see that on the Leafs. A contract shouldn’t matter. Sometimes it’s better to be genuine & be accountable instead of kissing my ass crap. I don’t see a lot of balls from the stars.

Reilly for Captain
