Interesting no comments about Freddie or the goaltending or any of that...

I’m watching Columbus give Tampa all they want..

Could it be that just solid defense and goaltending beats offensive talent in the playoffs..

And that perhaps you can’t just outscore your issues like you could in the 80s???

Sure helps when up against a weak D like Shatty

True...

But that’s a move you try in practice man or your ass gets stapled to the bench for the rest of the afternoon...

If they wake up, yeah.

Played like poop last game. Suspect the long layoff had something to do with that.

A goal allowed that should never have been didn't help.

True. Still a nice finish after the move, though.

imagine if cbus had some real offensive talent up front. scary team.
- wingz4life

Their system wins. They don’t go all out for offense.

Wennberg always was a bit overrated imho. Nice middle6 player. I'd rather have Mickey though

CBJ has a winning system. It doesn’t reward offence playing a controlled game. They frustrate & suck the life out of opponents. It keeps contracts lower. It’s easier to buy in & play as a team if the work ethic is there. Lower risk gets results.

Well they did last year.

I think their goalies make them look better than they are. But definitely a frustrating team.

Why? 2 teams assembled in opposite ways.
Too much focus on losing Panarin & Bob.
Does CBJ look like they miss them at all?

isn't that the scenario nylander is in here?
- Tumbleweed

Don't you get it? If you don't win the cup at 23 it is impossible to win a cup on said team, in order to win a cup said player must be traded.

Sounds like last years St Louis Blues. That’s a far too simple statement. It gives no credit to the system or players.

I don't see how Matthews can possibly be criticized for his performance.
- mjones242

Well, he is the best 5 on 5 scorer in the league and he only got one goal. That's not good and I bet he, himself, would agree.

Otherwise, I think Matthews was the best player on the team. He threw hits, back checked and played overall very well, but he didn't score enough for the money he makes.

Again, not really bagging on him, thought he was the best Leaf on the ice and is my favorite Leaf. The other guys are way more at fault than Matthews but his statement wasn't NOT true.

They are a budget team and can't afford to sign their stars.

Have they won yet?

Tortalytics. Keep it simple. Do your Job. Everyone thinks you suck. Prove them wrong. Oh and block a thousand shots and shorten your career. But... you'll win! 👍

D & C & warriors & a good goalie. Wingers are opportunists. They don’t have nearly the defensive responsibilities a C has.

Mickey? - because I stated from his first shift that he's my kinda player...

No, it doesn't look like they're missed - but with Panarin on that team they would've been ~unstoppable...!

Luck and awesome goaltending

Defense has zero effect on the goalies stats
