I'm fine with the penalty.. just think the whole idea of Lee meant this coming from the Caps fans is nuts. I just spoke to a buddy who is a HUGE Caps guy and played hockey in college..etc. He said the same most of us feel on this thread. Backstrom been doing this too long to not be looking like that.. (my only issue on the penalties is it should have been an instigator too.. I am 100% sure if that was Mayfield he would have gotten an instigator).

I don’t think most on here think it’s Backstrom’s fault Lee received the interference penalty. He hit him late. It’s a penalty. Whether Backstrom is looking at him or not.

Was it broom hockey your buddy played in college?

The reason they didn’t give an instigator is because fighting majors weren’t called.
But your right the refs would have changed the rules if it was Mayfield.

This is true. Isles vs Caps in playoffs is usually a banging affair.

Agreed. But...I'd consider dressing Ross. Not only to patrol (although, yeah, that'd be a reason), but also to avoid the Standard Komarov Ill-Timed Penalty.

Although, I guess Komarov's a bit of an agitator, too, so that could get the Caps even more off their game than Johnston being in there.

Leo is a pain in the ass. He was all over Kovalchuck yesterday.

Also Leo is a pretty good PK guy so that’s always a plus for him.
Although Ross is a PP specialist I believe he would be an infant all star on the PK unit as well. I believe Lambert might use him for the whole 2 minutes after just a few shifts on the PK.

Lee accepted Wilson's challenge the second time so no instigator and the first wasn't rway a fight. To settle the debate lee saw backstrom protected himself but put a shoulder square into his chest. The reason backstrom has the concussion is because he never saw it coming and didn't brace for impact and fell awkwardly. It happens
