He'll definitely be exposed. In fact, the Flyers may offer an incentive to have him taken. |

So this is what I've learned since last night's game ended.
Hayes and JvR's offensive production can never be compared because Hayes plays more defense. News to me but never stopped Hayes from leading the league in short handed goals at one point in the season.
Sean Couturier had a "dominating game" last night because he threw a couple hits around.
Giroux is making bad decisions on the power play because he keeps passing up to Ivan Provorov. Even though the power play showed signs of life in the first since forever when G set up Provy for a point shot that led to a goal.
You can't talk about where the Flyers need to improve so long as they're winning. Discuss the good, ignore the bad.

Don't forget about all the Ghost turnovers and how much they missed Hagg. Also, Elliot would have stopped the Weber goal. Finally, Voracek lost his spot on the first line to a rookie. I think that about covers it.

For what you are basing it on, you cant compare Hayes and JVR because they are two completely different roles, different positions, responsibilities and situations.
JVR is a LW who is low on the depth chart below guys like Giroux, Lindblom(When Healthy) and Laughton who has been playing great with Hayes.
Hayes is a Center. He is stepped into a a vacant 2nd line spot behind Couturier and lets be honest here. Without Hayes to step in at C, we would not be a playoff team. C was one of our biggest weaknesses last season. On top of that Hayes also spends a lot of time on PK. So if you look at point, yea they might look similar but when you factor everything else Hayes brings to the team, He looks more like a 7 mill player than JVR does
JVR is a good player but there was a reason why Toronto was OK with him leaving. He is a good player when he is surrounded by talent. Hayes drives the play. despite his slow speed, he skates past guy with the puck and generates his own offense. If I had to pick between keeping one of the 2 I pick Hayes all day

It is really going to depend on what else is available or if we send a conditional pick.
We might have more attractive options than JVR |

You think heās low on the LW depth chart now...wait till lindblom comes back into the lineup sometime...hopefully...in the next round.
AV is correct...the play of each player will dictate who plays. I remember back in 2011...boston vs vancouver...vancouver had picked Keith ballard at about a 4,5m AAV at the trade deadline yet he was dressing Aaron Rome in his place by the second round on. Rome...who had a cup of coffee with the Flyers earlier...was a journeyman defensive defenseman making close to league minimum.
JVR will not get minutes due to his salary...means NOTHING to AV.
Right now...JVR is NOT helping us win games. Looks lost on the 4th line...which is meant to be a defensive line...used for forechecking, hitting, grinding down other teamās D. Heās too slow to do any of that. Iād put bunnerman back in...also get a few PK shifts from him.
We can look in the offseason to trade jvr...going to have to eat probably 2 of the 7 mill though...may be even 3. But we got to find spots for frost snd allison...these 2 make league minimum.
jvr will have a hard time cracking this lineup in December. Heāll have to come in the best shape of his life. Right now he looks SO SLOW!!! - bruceflyers
Agree wholeheartedly...couldnāt have said it any better.

I would be surprised if they took jvr. While hes a good player and might be one the best scorers available i look at our young D and cant imagine they can make it past them. Especially if ghost is healthy. Sanheim myers provorov is still who you protect on D. For forwards coots giroux tk hayes laughton lindblom and then what ? Patrick ? Jvr ? Jake? Nak ? Grant? (if re signed). |

At first. The schedule was basically every other day one early game one late game. Rotating with the other game of that day which for us is isles caps.
Idk whats changed or these flexed schedules they've been tinkering with. |

Niskanen and Provorov had some turnovers last night as well. Bench one of them for Hagg? - jmatchett383
Niskanen's been turning pucks over regularly since the round robin. I know at some point he'll tamp down and return to being Mr. Reliable, but right now he's the weak link on D. |

I see last nights game as very positive. To me it wasnāt our. Eat outing but still won. Some players we usually rely on had ok games. Habs are fast. With minor adjustments itāll be ok. And the goalies were good. That game could e been 5-4. - Peter Richards
It was a good game and I give Montreal props for how aggressive they are. They are a pesky team and it's teams like this MTL team that can surprise people. I saw a lot of MTL choking us in the NZ. They swarmed as we entered and MTL did a good job disrupting at first.
Last night's games had a lot of positives and our top 2 likes aren't even going full speed yet.

You're looking at the Voracek change completely wrong. - MJL
In what way? Dont get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the coach or team. I dont have a problem with how the coach is using them. I don't dislike Voracek or even JVR. I'm just saying that it's a pretty strange situation. They are both being paid like top players and they're not fitting into the top two lines. I dont know for a fact, but I feel that most $8.5 mil first line wingers who miss a couple of days because of injury (or illness) would go right back to their spot when they come back. He missed a few days. He hasn't been out for a month. |
