I remember how happy I was when the Rangers signed him. Man Gilroy and him. Rangers don't have much luck with signing these Hobey Baker caliber college UFAs

Fox is pretty good... I know he was a trade, but still.

IF Henrik retires, NY should be able to resign all of their RFA/UFA without any problem. Hopefully don't overpay for Strome and TDA and still have a little wiggle room under the cap.

If they buy out Staal or Smith that opens up more options but they have to be careful until they are in a position to know what Zib's long term ask is going to be

No buyouts, there is about $7.5 worth of empty space next season. Go with what we have, hope Hank retires and add a small piece through trade. We're pretty golden after Staal, Smith and Hank are off the books. But who says one of them doesn't resign for cheap?

No more buy outs. Need to get the dead cap off the books, and then just go from there. They aren't going to win the cup next year so just let the contracts run out. imo

well if they do win the Cup next year its because Panarin, Zibianjed, Lafreniere and Kakko just become unstoppable and Shesty cant be beat

personally I am still in the camp of lets just add Lafreniere and then at least the first half of next season lets see where this thing goes

lets see how Kakko looks, lets let these kids find their places, playing with two of the best in the game in Panarin and Zib

lots of talk that Barron could also be good enough to play right away too, give Gauthier more time

that just puts me in the bridge Strome camp, or better yet, 1 year Strome camp

- jimbro83

I know nothing about Barron , he’s a big kid does he play big ?

they are very high on him coming in and playing immediately, I know that

he'll be 22 coming from college playing for a college coach in NHL, leadership quality kid too

His stats are great 6’ 2” 210. Chances are at 22 he’s not getting taller but could put on weight. Maybe he slots in at a #2 centre in the future. Hope the AHL has a season for the players that need a transition year.

I never said he would be a bust, but then again he really busted it out in that playin round.

Thankfully he did suck.

You realize how important this series loss was?

I was looking at his faceoff numbers in college, and they are very solid. He’s a huge key in all of this, if he’s a good every game player that would be enormous. A 2C would be fantastic

Henrik Lundqvist named a finalist for the 2019-20 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, which is awarded annually “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.” Lundqvist was also named a finalist for the award last season.

Knowing what you know now, including having the first overall pick, would you have signed Hayes for the $6 mil or so he wanted on a long-term deal the year before he was to became a free agent?

True Panarin looked into his crystal ball and knew if the Rangers lost they would get the number 1 pick, such great reasoning as to why he sucked.
