Bruins confirmed it was not a family emergency, he has 3 young children at home, one is an infant and he wanted to be with them.

I just don't see how he walks out on his team 3 hours prior to a playoff game. He is 33 years old, he is not a kid, this is just not right.

Legs shouldn’t bend that way

But I remember when McDonagh did something similar a few years ago and we all thought he tore his acl, then he came back later in the game. So you never know

I dont think Staal is gonna go for that. I mentioned it previously and someone said Howden could be the odd man out.
- aecliptic

Howden is a forward. We still need to expose a dman

For his sake, hope it turns out to be a bad knee sprain.

Considering Poille's comments on making some changes... I wonder if that makes Ekholm available to get for LD.

We need to sign someone to a 2 year deal this year, or extend Smith or Staal a year.

I cant see Staal signing knowing that hes gonna be the expansion scape goat. Smith might not care and just wants to play.

That’s the problem with trading for a LHD also, whoever it is would have to be exposed. Why would we go out and get a guy like Ekholm just to have him claimed in the expansion draft. We have to expose 1 D that’s under control for the following year but can only protect 3 defenseman with Trouba being protected automatically.

Trouba (protected) Hajek (exposed)
Fox (exempt) Lindgren (protected)
TonyD (protected)

So we have our 3 protected guys, with Hajek being exposed. The missing defenseman (Smith/Stall) will be off the roster by the draft. If we just stick to what we have and hope Nils or Miller can fill in on the left side than we expose Hajek and move on. Anyone else we sign/trade for would have to be exposed.

I have a feeling tony d won’t be playing here next year, for both hockey and non hockey reasons

I’m personally looking forward to he and Kakko possibly developing a friendly competition. Former 2nd overall pick pushing himself to show he’s better in his 2nd year, with some pressure off him, than his rookie teammate.
Hopefully pushes both players to achieve their potential.

Two college defensemen became UFA’s yesterday because they didn’t sign with their teams by deadline

Luke Martin and Ryan Shea

I would expect Rangers to have a chat with both

Has the time arrived yet to play GM and “Lets make a deal!”

So Ottawa has the 3&5 pick. They need a goalie and we don’t want to lose Georgiev to the expansion draft and get nothing for him because if he stays, he’s exposed.
So Georgiev, Stromes rights, Buchnevich, Lias Andersen Carolina’s pick and a second rnd pick for the #3 pick and Brady Tkachuk. Yes. I know we need a center and possibly Befield or Stutzie will be there at 3 plus Brady brings not only skill but snarl. This will leave room for a bridge deal for ADA and for Fast to come back too. Lemiuex will also take a bridge deal.

"Free assets" are always nice, but not sure these 2 could even make our Hartford roster.

We won't lose Georgi at Expansion Draft, he is the only one we have to protect.
We don't have a 2nd round pick this year ( Fox trade )
Senators hang up on Gorton and refuse to take future calls with that offer.

This trade makes absolutely no sense for Ottawa
