Strome
Deangelo
Buchnevich
Kravtsov
Howden
Gauthier
Lemieux
Georgy
Nils

I could see any of these guys get traded as part of a package to get a legit 2C.

- Slimtj100

Im sure you could but none of those guys alone or even packaged together would fetch a legit 2c.

Why trade Strome, who had a good season with Panarin??

Kravtsov and/or Buch plus a 1sts and 3rd could definitely get a 2C where a team has cap issues or a lot of other holes to filkl

Because theres some room to upgrade at the 2C position. You can argue that Stromes success is attributed to playing with Panarin. Where we can upgrade is to get a center who can on their own, despite playing with Panarin, be successful.

Strome played well without Panarin after the trade was made. Can they have more success together even though they played less than a season together?

We dont know, but as per my previous post on the other page. I also believe we cant just toss Strome away.

Theres also financial repercussions to chasing a sexy 2C. 80% of our roster is on ELCs. People gotta get paid. We dont want to start shooting ourselves in the foot taking on a 10m contract like Eichel’s and then not be able to resign core guys weve developed.

Its a tough decision I think is being oversimplified.

Im a slut for Barkov, I wish we could have him... pipedream.

What would you guys say to signing Jumbo Joe to a 1yr deal to slot in as 3C?

Assuming were not buying anyone out and gonna just wait out the year. Hes a pretty good signing on the cheap. Sure hes old, but hes a grizzled vet, can be an excellent source of knowledge for the young kids and can still win faceoffs.

Where's Tom? He would go for this in a big way.

haha, yeah, he had some hatred for Thornton, for anything Sharks

Tom would probably want to tank next season so they can get this guy from Finland next year to play with Kakko

that thing with Boyle and Larry Brooks was so weird because Larry didn't really ever write anything bad about Dan Boyle.

was so out of left field

I know who I want late in first round if we keep the Carolina pick and I don't know anything about him other than he's a smallish center

his name is Marat Khusnutdinov

I want Sam Rosen to have to say his name all the time

On another note, do we think Kreider accepts a switch to RW to play with LaFreniere or Panarin?

As far as Chytil goes, and honestly anyone on the bottom 6 (except maybe Lemieux). I think theyre all fair game to trade. If someone sees value in Filip, fine take him. I think for us its imperitive to get a 3C and even a 4C who can win 50% of faceoffs. Im a huge stickler for the importance of winning faceoffs. I think its a huge game changer and momentum shifter when you can be a menace as a team in the dots.

- aecliptic

Hayes at 22 and 23 had slightly worse Face Off numbers than Chytil at 19 and 20. Hayes has been a 50% guy for several years now. I'm willing to give Chytil a chance to improve before I move him.

I was thinking Panarin may be the one who moves, because he's actually the one with the right handed shot

but who knows how it will work out

Its possible, European players seem to have a much easier time playing either wing.

I don't hate the idea of spreading them all out and having 3 good lines. The 3rd line needs more players like Kreider who can for check and keep the cycle going.
