Yes

but it gets even worse unless we think Jack Campbell is the answer.

The Murray idea is interesting, but I really wonder if he is any better to be honest.

Ya, I know you’re not a Freddie fan but Hasek would have looked sad with this D this year.

I blame the whole line and Freddie ( i’d like to see the goal from above as I couldn’t see if CLB had a guy coming in high,..then Freddie has to protect the post and worry about the pass ( he knows MM ain’t going to do much )
- Garnie

Wow,

He had a CLEAR view of a shot from like 1 ft off the redline and couldn't stop it. IF he got out of the way it would not have gone in.

No way in hell that goal should ever go in against an NHL goalie. I can't believe some people are seriously conjuring up excuses for that one.

Also, Freddy worries about the shooter, the defenceman worries about the pass.

The shooter was way to far out to have to protect the post, come out of the crease and cover the angles.
- bobbyisno1

Is there a guy coming in high, the you can’t.

Plus it was just a lucky shot off the top of his pad and 5 hole.

You can pin the series on Andersen but you’re wrong IMO

aside from Gibson and Vas....who the (frank) do we think is any better or worse going into a season? Goalie are (frank)ed every year.

Freddy has sucked in deciding games, time to make a change wether the new guy is more talented or not.

Murray has won before though...signs for cheaper given how his year went.

Regardless how the goals go in you call him a sieve...already preconceived. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought the wrister from top of the circle in game 1 was a bad one. Cost us the game

I don’t see him or anyone pinning the series on Andersen

Just that he has been bad in deciding games. At 31 and 1 year left on his deal he is a guy you can shakeup.

This is a real fallacy.

The whiffs were not difficult shots. They weren't defensive mistakes. They were goaltending mistakes.

You absolutely, 100% cannot rely on him in a big game. That (frank)s with a team.

Defense was not the problem on the whiff in Game 1, Game 3, and Game 5. It also was not the problem on the game 7 whiffs against Boston.

Those were truly awful goals, not just saves he *maybe* should have made. They were crushing. I would argue that it has contributed to a team that now has some serious confidence issues they are fighting.

- Aetherial

Right?

Don’t think the previous 3 series losses play on this teams psyche...? Now a 4th.
I thought the Leafs looked timid, nervous - trying not to lose vs trying to win. The giveaways were... a dead giveaway...lol. They were hard to watch for too much of this series.

Many injury issues, the Pens fans want to get rid of him for this playoff exit as well.

Have you seen our d, rarely stop the pass.

But yes, it would have been nice if he saved it...but our superstar team shouldn’t be leaving it til game 5 with little time left and changing while the puck is on our end...I don’t think.

I have no idea how to even classify that comeback.

Been a whole different series if Freddy stops that wrister from top of the circle in game 1..

Great.

He needs a change of scenery and so does Freddy.

He’ll be cheaper and at the end of the day in a game 7 he could be better than Freddy and has shown in the past that he can be.

We aren’t signing any star goalie to a 10 million deal. You got to find a talented goalie with some baggage and hope him and Campbell can be better.

Either way, time for a change in net.

What no one is thinking about is this too....

After SB Freddy only has to be paid 1 million dollars. He’d bring back a good haul if they find a replacement.

Was that when he was with the Kings organization?

I remember when that trade happened and I had no idea who he was. I thought he was just a toss-in on the deal and would never make an impact. Boy, was I wrong.

- GalacticStone

Yep. When he was with the Otters.

Now now, I’m not being dumb...just truthful.

Lots of good goals get scored on Freddie and a lot of you guys think they should be stopped.

Hey, hoping we trade him over the summer and run with Campbell. Then we can find a new guy to blame. Save some Cap with cheap goalers.

I remember the Habs fans arguing that not having Price was the reason they lost some series a number of years ago.

I pointed out that they couldn't score either. The counter was that, without the solid goaltending, it changed the way the entire team played.

The Habs fans were right and I am seriously starting to think that a big part of the problems this core has is confidence and part (not all) of that is because of the goaltending.

Don't worry about, Freddy effed them but the team sure as crap should have not been down 1-0 with 8 to go.

cheap deals. like how cheap AND would they sign them.

I get it, WE all want changes but let's be reasonable here with trades and cheap deal.
I can see Spezza signing another 700k deal.
Anderson (same agent as Marner) will want a deal in the 5 mil range.
Gudas will cost 3.5~4.5 range
Also Murray would a deal in the 5 mil range

inreality, you are only moving Kapanen cap hit 3.2Mil from the Leafs total cap.

well that's my opinion

- dmnted

Dude.

Do you know a pandemic is going on? A flat cap? A 75% cut in arena revenue which=massive budget cuts....Gudas is not getting anything over 1.5 million. All these 2-4 million dollar guys are going to suffer, they won’t get anything above 1.5 million this offseason.

Other goalies make saves, or have you not watched Leafs forwards get robbed all the time.

They also don't fail as consistently at critical times.

He has something like a .885 save percentage in deciding games.

He hasn’t been good in that area and that’s a fact, and I’m not pinning the loss on him for it.

I think it changes the d mindset significantly knowing that the goalie ain't gonna let a shot in from outside the slot unless he's screened
