Would it have mattered?
Leafs couldn’t score a goal. - Tanooki
The greatest offensive show on earth went 6 periods nearly against that team and the only reason it was 6 period was because they got a bad bounce goal in the 3rd.
Ander5en whiffs were killers in all 3 losses.

Well, I was making a point that there should not be a radically different assessment of the two.
Matthews was our best forward, easily. The loss to CBJ was not his fault.
Nylander was so soft and looked horrible when not on the ice with one of the other big names. He is the one who needs to go for defensive help. - Aetherial
AM was very good in this series, just pointing out that people only seem to criticize the players that they want to move out......but matthews is matthews, so he will always be above the criticism that anyone else on the team gets. players who have no value will be criticized a bit, but everyone knows they suck anyways, and they can't be moved because of that.....so why bother. the players who will always be criticized are the good players, who play bad, and are "tradeable"
i agree that Nylander needs to go....he's the only one that makes sense to move |

Willy is a perimeter floater on a solid contract. He’s the obvious contract to move. That doesn’t mean anything on its own & everything on what Dubas does. |

I’ve never implied Willy is a C on any line 😂 - Nighthawk
Your post I quoted seemed to be talking about Nylander.
"Why move Nylander?
He & AM are on the best contracts of the big 4.
You don't move a top 2C no matter that he skews the cap."
No mention of JT.

I don't think the Leafs will, or can, re-sign Ander5en.
If that is the case I would like to see them recoup some assets and trade him. Someone needs a goalie for a year.
... the obvious problem is that minor detail of who the hell do we put in net |

Totally agree.
I’ve stated JT isn’t the problem but the signing was. 11m is more problematic in that it does skews the cap the player is legit good. |

What would it cost to get Murray, and what would his next contract be like? |

No assets given. Sign Lehner 4/6m & trade out others for cap space & D. Cernak OS 5/4m make TB match or get him. Trade Willy & Holl & Miky. |

Who played up to their money? Rielly, Holl, Robertson.
Nobody played up to their money. But we are singling out our leading scorer 2 of the past 3 years and playoff leading scorer the last 4 years and giving our other guys a pass apparently. - Aetherial
Spezza and Engvall both did. For the most part Freddy was great. He just let in a very bad goal in a game the Leafs didn't score any. |

Keep Mikheyev. Versatile, big, fast, kills penalties. Sign him for 2 years at 1.75. |

Personally I'd trade Matthews.
Great scoring C but bad character it seems.
Barkov and Ekblad for Matthews and Nylander solves a lot of issues for this Leafs team - MaximusAurelius

Set a very bad cap precedent laden with humungous bonuses. The Leafs were trending perfectly fine. Dubas makes his big splash & everything changed. Premature & unnecessary let alone the domino effect it created. |

If AM as good as everyone says, it shouldn't matter who he plays with. JT has dragged some garbage in NY to great seasons. SO lose Marner and Nylander. Johnssson also useless. get some muckers with a bit of hands (Hymans etc), bolster the D and make AM prove hes top 10? 5? If he is, he doesn't need Marner and Nylander. |

Gretzky dragged Kurri and Anderson to HofF. Lemieux made Stevens good, Lindros made LeClair and Renberg good, Crosby got Kunitz to Team Canada for Christ sakes...you wanna be considered elite...do that |

I wanted Nylander gone when he was holding out. He has since increased his value at least as a regular season scoring dude. Has he increased his value overall ? Probably. Move him out. Robertson looks like a 20+ goal player right away but also works his ass off every shift. Anyone who’s lazy that can be traded needs to be. |
