What do you all think of Craig Smith as a 3C candidate if NSH doesn't re-sign him? He's a righty which is a plus. - Rinosaur
I'd be down with that, I just figured the Preds would sign him. |

Looking at the wings blog I’m pretty pessimistic about Murray’s value. There are a TON of goalies who will either be UFAs or available for trade this offseason. I will be thoroughly shocked if we’re able to pull off a one for one trade with him for one of the players we need. - Victoro311
That's how I've always felt. Bad year to be selling a goalie. |

Because right-handed people usually opt to be left shots so they can use their dominant hand for stick control and left handedness is a recessive gene. |

Just sucks we don't have a choice, and Murray has to go. |

I wonder if he even plays center, I can't remember the last time he wasn't a RW. He's a guy that kind of interests me though he's past 30 and a speed guy do might be better to look elsewhere. |

No argument there, I just think the return will stink. |

I haven't seen specific mention from Friedman, other people are reporting he believes Domi will be a Penguin next season. - Rinosaur
From what I gather, he just put them as possible trade partners, not a concrete rumor. Domi is rumored to be available since the Habs have some good young centers as we witnessed. |
|

Personally I never expected to get a player in return. My guess is a 2nd and a prospect. If it was for a player I'd imagine another RFA the team doesn't expect to keep. - Rinosaur
Murray is very young for a goalie. It’s reasonable to expect he will play another 10 years. There is value there.
Toronto for instance will need a goalie after next year. Could swap him with Andersen if they throw in a sweetener. Maybe even get Kapanen back from them.
Detroit needs a goalie now and for the future, if we look for salary instead of picks they could be a good trading partner to unload bad contracts to. Could ship JJ and Bjuk along with Murray for a small return.
Edmonton needs a goalie, unfortunately Cirelli is no longer the GM so McDavid probably can’t be had but maybe Puljarvii?
There are options as long as people temper their expectations. Max value Murray was 2 years ago. |

Letang for Petry and Domi works for me. |

I was only expecting a couple picks. Maybe a prospect and pick or some sort of even swap of RFA statuses. |

Ottawa is intriguing...
I wonder how the Pens could get Connor Brown and either Tierny or DuClair. Tierny was a Pens' target a few years back.
They definitely need goaltending. |

I think Murray's value tops out at at 3rd and if a prospect is added, it would be very low-end, IMO. |

He is pretty much a RW and hasn't played center in earnest for a long time. I don't think he drives play much and he probably doesn't have the defensive game to play center. He's also on the wrong side of 30. He'd be a candidate for a bottom 6 RW if we needed one. Could help on PP1 as a righty if we don't do the obvious and put Rust there. |

A Kapanen return would be great!
Puljujarvi is interesting, but id want more. Even if it's just a swap of 1sts to pick ahead of the. |

I meant this upcoming season to show ownership, not this past playoffs.Hall is really the only one I truly want, maybe Toffoli depending on the price tag. - 668710
Ok, well, I don't think this season will be a fair showing, either, with a bunch of holes to fill and staying ~$10M under the cap, especially if we start moving out guys like Horny. We are about to enter no-man's land hell. Instead of Hall or Toffoli we will get the Conor Shearys of the league. Maybe even Conor Sheary himself. |

Like Connor Brown a lot but he is another mid 6 that the Pens seem to have a lot of. Ottawa has tons of picks, I'd try to get a 2nd off of them. |

All day, all night. Think the Pens would need to add a bit so throw in McCann going the other way.
Domi is an ideal 3C for the Pens. |

Yea I see where you are coming from. It truly depends on how the guys come out the gate, and if a couple of the young guns can do something. Really hoping Poulin can make the jump. Maybe, maybe we can get our 3c with Horny/Murray or both of them. Unless Sheary is at league minimum I don't want him. I'm sure you don't want him at all lol. But I think we let him walk. |

Kevin Allen just said this today on the radio. When asked what the Pens will get for Murray, he said "not much". Murray's rep has taken a bit of beating the last couple of years. I'm thinking a 3rd rounder. |

Yea but is Petry really that good? Is this under the assumption Marino is gonna be first pair?I definitely agree on Domi though. |

Rightfully so, idk where his camp is coming from of the 8 mil range. The way he's been playing he's gonna be around the same price honesty. |

He is no first pair D man but he is a good 2nd pair. The approach would have to be that of their playoff run without Letang. Run 3 solid D pairs and rely on the improved forward depth to carry the load.
There aren't many 2C capable guys on the market. Could bring in a FA RD like Vananen and run 3 evenly capable pairs 20 mins a game. |
