JVR had 1:54 of ice time on the PP. The PP was much better tonight. They scored a goal and had a lot of good looks at the net, especially on that 4 on 3 sequence. - MJL
On the 2nd unit though. He should be on the 1st. |

HOF caliber goalie makes a team real dangerous. That Price save was absolutely terrific. - Trox88
Great point. Regardless of the team it’s prob going to be touch and go. With price they are very dangerous. Pitt go behind and couldn’t recover. At least we won game 1 |

Sure. It was a good save but it was really just luck for Price there but give him credit for the effort.

Why? The 2nd unit also needs good PP players.

1st unit scored with a double screen in front. I doubt AV moves JVR. In fact, I think there is a better chance AV puts him back as a scratch. |

Few thoughts
Win, lose or draw, Shea Weber is the best defenseman on the ice 81 times out of an 82 schedule. The guy has been nominated for the Norris trophy multiple times against Lidstrom and Chara and walked away empty handed multiple times. Chara isn’t that guy anymore and Lidstrom is retired. We shouldn’t be living in a world where Erik Karlsson and PK Subban has one and Shea Weber does not.
Carter Hart and Phil Myers we’re our two best players, which is a shame for a team filled with leadership. Hart and Myers have never been to the playoffs before.
I don’t care how most of you feel about JvR, nobody should be comfortable with Farabee and Aube-Kubel getting more rope during their rookie season. Happy they’re here. Great goal by Farabee tonight. However, the small details. The chips ins. The refuses. The where to be. The strength. Those small details, you need to win and veterans like JvR have it.
This game shouldn’t have been this close. |

AV looked startled in the presser when the first reporter began by pronouncing his name as Ah-leon. 😂😂 |

G and coots had good games, coots a great game actually. Not sure what was so shameful in their games. What is up with the Weber punch hit, he buried a few guys tonight with it. |

Absolutely.
The first unit looks like it has a plan and it has structure. The second looks like they pulled babes from a hat. Voracek is being wasted in the crease, when he can control play up high. |

B- performance.
I’ll never take for granted ANY playoff win.
Need more finish...more shots with traffic.
The Dave Hakstol blasting point shots on the PP needs to stop immediately. G needs to shoot from the left slot...even if only to generate rebounds. WAY TOO MANY opportunities passed over on. Shoot first...pass second.
No point playing JVR on the 4th line...doesn’t understand the role.
If he’s not good enough for the 3rd...put in bunnerman for some hits forecheck and PK.
Pull off a win on friday...montreal will quit!!! |

Giroux and Couturier didn’t have great games tonight. They were hanging on like everyone else. |

I remember the old days with Brodeur n the Devils, ugh. Habs don t have the fire power to put a game away, so the Flyers will always be right there. The Flyers were a lot more willing to crash the net then the Pens. Hart plays like this, we as Flyers are conditioned for the goalie to eventually implode. Hart looks different. |

Coots 100% had a great game. Few huge hits, a beast all night, quality shots, drew multiple penalties. Watch the game. |

Couturier and Giroux were just average tonight. Both need to be much better at 5 on 5. |

The first unit moved the puck like it was the playoffs. The second unit, in particular Hayes, played like the game was a Tuesday in November.
They will pick it up. |

Yep. I was thinking back the other day to 04, 08 and 10. So many close games you forget how it was because it’s been a while.

Giroux isn’t a shoot first player and has made his money by managing the PP with his first pass mindset. I don’t know why that would change now. |
