He will, but the moves he made have been underwhelming to say the least.

He should get the boot next year if there is no palpable progress, which I won’t count on unless there are big changes.

Lou signed Martin, Zaitzev and Marleau

Dubas fixed all those problems and traded for Kerfoot and Barrie.

Come on now, yeah that trade is a loss as we stand today but he didn’t sign depth players to a combined 55 million dollars....give him some time

this makes sense...he shows ok on the D side (sounds odd)..but offense he is a huge neagtive...which probably lends to what you see on the ice...he cant move the puck well

nobody cares if he plays his butthole off every night. the guy needs to produce. lots of guys play their bumholes off every night but they don't eat up a huge chunk of cap space after holding the team over a barrel...
- MisterBrown

There are lots of 3rd line guys who don’t make $11M but play their butts off.

Dubas doesn’t get it does he? If you get paid $11M, you need to play like one. I think teams are figuring out how to play MM especially in tight games but hey, what do I know?

He is a good 5/6 D.

You can have a Ceci on your team, they are useful when you want offence to be killed on both sides of the ice. The goat and Ceci are those types of players but you only need 1 or 2.

CBJ has more than few of those players and it works for them.

you can have all the skill in the world but if you dont try and dont give a poop it doesnt matter..you wont win

but also, if you try hard ..nobody gives a poop...if you dont produce.

its pretty simple

If someone wants to trade the Leafs a top 2 young D he will be gone.

In other words he probably isn’t going anywhere.

the public data also doesnt show he wasnt trash...there is always going to be those players who clash with the eye test vs stats.

trying to understand why/where that difference lies is interesting.

I am perfectly fine saying his stats are not terrible..but average'ish and never seeing him again.

the Sens got to the conference finals with Ceci and Phaneuf... sometimes stuff doesnt make sense

Methot was a absolute beast that run.

Guys I see Dubas targeting. I think it’s obvious the Leafs need a player or two like this...Clifford is great and all, nice addition but they need a few that can actually play...and they don’t have to be nearly as big or as tough as Clifford.

Peach and love, my brother. I hope God heals whatever has created such hatred in you.

Rise above, my man.

Ceci is really really bad and we all know it, though.

Bolded- Anderson refusing to allow goals because he was playing his heart out for his wife is why that happened. He was incredible. But yeah, that's some bad D in front of him.

I can see him liking a guy like Antoine Roussel.

Not sure why everyone is forgetting Karlsson was pre-injury and playing 30 minutes of Hart level two-way defense at the time...

Too overpaid and not very good.

They need a guy who can contribute, and add some jam.

I think JA is the obvious target. Kap for JA makes sense...Kapanen’s contract is largely paid off and Dubas can sign JA to a 2 year flat cap deal.

They can sign a Rousell in Simmons for a one year 1 million contract.

Gudas is in the same boat, no team is giving these guys the 2-3 million they normally get.

Karlsson doesn't have that in him. His D was never at that level. Offense, Yes.

So... what is our actual draft position this year? 15th , I assume. Even though the Canes get it.

Relay hope this is the last time in a long while that we give up a first rounder.

That one playoff run he did. I got to go to some of the games live, he was on another planet. Never hit that level again. He was like Scotty Nieds in his prime.

Radko? flyers like his style of play, that's how they keep up with heavy teams.
Wayne Simmons? he's getting too old.
Erik Haula? what's he do?
Tanev probably gets resigned.
Matt Murray? why would he target him?
