This is the point I was making yesterday. I think there is a culture aspect to the trades they need to make. Close too many times. They need a shake up and they need to move a big piece. Marner is presumably a big piece of the culture. I have no idea about what he’s like but I’d look to change that aspect as well.

Nylanders success is 100% attributable to playing with two elite centerman. As soon as he gets on a line with someone other than a top 10 center, he will totally vanish.

His vanishing act in the playoffs every year is really all anyone needs to make their point

Before the flat cap. Nylander is worth what is paid. Trading just got harder for bigger contracts.

Athanasiou scored 11 goals in 55 games. Minus 46. But let's go with the "It's all Nylander's fault" narrative as to why the Leafs lost. Not every team can achieve the monumental success the Buffalo Sabres have.
