I’m learning my way through ex-NHLer (and current Rangers’ broadcaster) Steve Valiquette’s excellent Clear Sight Analytics. Kevin Fiala’s Game 1 was the first “clear shot” goal Markstrom allowed all season. He faced more than 500 such chances, the only goalie in the league who was perfect against more than 200 such opportunities. He allowed another Game 5, which means he was beaten by shots that hadn’t eluded him all season. If I’m Vancouver, I’m betting Markstrom figures it out.

When you are battling heavy teams or are in a playoff run he is less effective. I admire what he does but he is not going to have other teams looking out for him like a Reaves or a Wilson.

I like Motte, he’s a hard worker but you’re right, he’s a little small. Give me Grayovac Bailey and MacEwan as the 4th line and then upgrade from within as prospects develop and deserve a shot in the NHL. Travis ends up shortening the bench anyway, so who cares. Coaches should be spending a poop ton of time with these guys on how to PK so they can contribute and play some sheltered 5v5
