What are the other major issues? Moving JJ is definitely an issue, it would be awesome if some other team just signed Murray but I think he'll be moved via trade. It would be nice to move Horny but it's not entirely necessary.
- 668710

Actually the major problem is GMJR...because the rest of the problems will stem out from him if sticks around. He doesnt like buyouts, he probably doesnt even think JJ is a problem, thats a massive problem if true haha. He loves Sully and probably wont axe him. I could see JR still really wanting to keep Murray and I think that would be a mistake now.

Other problems I see:

No good 3C
No good 3rd pair
Player like Horny with a 5.25 cap hit, getting older and not producing enough to be on top lines.
No good prospect pool for cheap ELC options
Aging core
Tojo.

And I'm not saying Ruth shouldnt be axed. Sully should be axed as well. Just talking what we need moved off this team. It's not like we have 5 guys that are albatrosses.
- 668710

Sully deserves it more than GMJR, but you probably don't get one without the other. The roster assembled was much better than it performed.

3 are likely gone though the biggest remains, so that's good. Bigger concern for me is the good players need to play better. Without that, they're toast.

Bjugs could be one too...actually he probably is one. That guy is as fragile as glass (not just with Pens) and has missed a F-load of time. 4.2 mill cap hit.

I kind of missed why that young GM left the Yotes...what happened there?

I liked most of his moves with the Yotes.

Best trolling blog I've seen in a while.

Anyone who actually took this seriously should just delete their accounts and maybe just stay off the internet in general.

Offseason thoughts:

1. Flip Murray - not sure the value or what to target, but I think Jarry can handle the load. Worst case rentals are usually available cheap.

2. Bjugstad - trade him with half retained or keep him but don't count on him. He will likely hit the ER so the Pens could recapture some space. No buyout.

3. JJ - buy him out already! PO Joseph can do anything JJ can.

4. Draft at 15 or offer it to Minny for a 2nd. Do not let Minny have it this year! Would be amazing if someone like Holtz fell to them.

5. McCann - understand that he is just an ok 3rd liner but ideally a 4c and pay him as such. If they want to be great they need a better 3C, so can't give him $4m on a contract with term. I like him but they might be better trading him.

6. ZaR, Rodriguez, Simon - definitely let the first two go and probably Simon too.

Clear things out and reevaluate what is out there. I still think the biggest need is for a top pair LD. Torey Krug will likely be out of the picture but I think he would be a guy worth taking a shot at. Krug-Letang, Dumo-Marino would be a really nice top 4 to run with.

If POJ is doing more than JJ on the left, replaces him there and the Pens get a new top pair LD....then where is Petts going?

ZAR is signed at 1m for 1 more year... and formed one of the best shut down lines in the league. Why are we going to get rid of something that has a ton of value?

Also Erod and Simon are RFAs which could prove to be cheap depth resigns.

Seems like he wasn’t cut out for the relationships aspect of the job. Came off like he and ownership beefed and he took off.

Chayka convinced his owner to let him go to a dinner with the owners of the devils under the conditions that it wouldn't be a job interview. It, uh, was.

The owners of the Devils wanted to hire him to oversee their entire sports portfolio, (Including the 76ers and their attempt to purchase the Mets) and the Coyotes owner wouldn't let him go.

So Chayka threw a bit of a hissy fit and just sort of stopped doing his job until everybody agreed it was best if he just left.

The game 4 performance is definitely hard to ignore. That shouldn’t distract everyone from how awful of a job Sullivan did in the series and im sure that played a part, but the players also didn’t have to lay down and die. We definitely need a reset. I thought we had managed that with how well we played this season before injuries but they just looked like they were having zero fun out there and didn’t want to be there anymore. I think a new coach should fix that, and the more I think about it, a coach that lives and dies by offense like Boudreau could really be the perfect guy for that, but it’s still concerning to see.

I’m a Sixers fan and did not know this. Didn’t know Harris and Blitzer targeting Chayka for an org job. Kinda sounds like the Scott O’Niel job and if I’m reading this correctly and they’re interviewing people for the job Scott O’Niel currently has and O’Niel is on the outs, I am VERY happy. Nothing can undo the damage done after Hinkie was ousted, but retribution against those who tossed Hinkie to the curb and lead to us squandering Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons’ talent by flushing assets down the drain is a nice little conciliation prize.

I honestly think they were told/coached to play back, reserved and not take many chances in that game. The way they looked and played doesnt make sense compared to the energy, up tempo and effort they brought the first 2.5 games, where they largely out played the Habs for stretches. If this is all true its just more fodder for Sullivan firing.

Agree on ZAR and Simon.

Rod has that 2.2M QO and I want to free up a spot, so I'd let him walk. I think he wants to be somewhere he plays every game anyways.

Yeah, I'm slowly getting more on board with changing the coach.

Boudreau's goofball style and Crosby's all-business personality would make a good reality show.

Hes an absolute goof... I said it mid season on a couple posts here he was definitely on the hot seat and most likely gonna be gone. Got a couple remarks from people here that thought that was pretty funny but.... gone! Dont forget about his little bs prospect combine tampering during the season which he got caught for. Little side note he tried making his entire staff accept equal blame for that and it was something he solely did. Taylor Hall told the coyotes he wasnt even willing to talk to them if Chyka was involved. There is quite a bit more behind the scences shiiit he does but to put it lightly hes a goof. Also HE terminated his own contract and quit on the team.... mid season. Goes to show you that character Chyka has....

gonna be tricky as it remains to be seen if he can actually take another job at the moment. Should be able to as it's not a lateral move but a step higher for WAY more money, but the Yote's owner was not at all happy that he got interviewed in the first place, so...
