Trading the 1st for an RFA that could be signed long term sure which is why I mentioned Pulock but I'd rather have whatever that 10th overall pick turns out to be then have a couple years of Lindholm or Manson, really too it almost seems like a retool is necessary or inevitable with how much work this team needs, one Lindholm, Manson or a 2C isn't fixing all that ails this team.

Most of the Jets problems lies with the coach. There is no reason the Jets should have had terrible special teams and the worst xGF% in the league even with that defense.

Josh Morrissey will be an excellent head coach one day.
Gets asked if he thinks the Jets need more size. Proceeds to emphasize the importance of speed and skill.

Unfortunately, this also means he’ll likely never coach for the Jets. He’s definitely smart enough not to sign himself on under a meddling owner

I think defense is overrated. According to some posters we need an all-star defensive team. Even with Enstrom, Myers, Trouba and Byfuglien this team struggled on the penalty kill. Is that on the players or on systems? It's a question that needs to be asked.

Looking at past Stanley Cup winners, none of their defences were any better than the one that the Jets iced this past season. We essentially need defensemen that play simple games and are able to transition the puck up to the forwards.

Cirelli sure if Tampa would do it but even though the Jets need to make a move trading the 10th overall pick for a couple years of Manson or Lindholm isn't a good idea, maybe Lindholm if they thought he could be signed after but that's risky if he doesn't want to stick around and Manson is kind of old already and is overrated anyhow.

I think the Jets need to either make a move to really add some pieces or they do a two to three years retool which could be painful but if they add they still shouldn't throw assets away on short term help either, trading the 1st for a long term extended Pulock from the cap crunched Islanders might be alright though.

I salivate at the idea of getting Cirelli. With him in the line-up we could potentially have three amazing dyamic duo's.

Laine-Copp-Wheeler
Connor-Scheifele-Harkins
Appleton-Cirelli-Ehlers
Perreault-Gustafsson-Vesalianen

Dynamic duo's being:
Laine-Copp
Connor-Scheifele
Cirelli-Ehlers

Alternatively:
Copp-Scheifele-Laine
Vesalainen-Cirelli-Ehlers
Connor-Lowry-Wheeler
Harkins-Gustafsson-Appleton

Although I’d probably switch Ves and KC just to have better speed matchups. Mostly I want Laine being fed, Ehlers and Cirelli murdering fools, Wheeler with Lowry, and both Connor and Vesalainen to have proper support away from the puck.

Honestly, I love your dream, but Wheeler can’t be on the top line anymore, and there’s a lot of guys on off wings there

Lowry does not have a place on my team. He would be part of the package to acquire Cirelli.

I don't understand what would make you want to put Copp with Scheifele! If Copp is as good as Backstrom he doesn't need Scheifele. In fact I am super looking forward to hearing Beyak talk about the fabulous dynamic duo Laine and Copp. It reminds me of the old days when Pokey Reddik was known as the Bandit!

I want the best possible lineup. Cirelli does everything. Which makes Copp 3C, thus limiting his ice time and impact.

Scheifele: play driver, absurd scoring chance generator, high slot god
Copp: play driver, defensive wizard, board work master
Laine: threatening beyond measure, opens ice for others. Best pure sniper possibly ever

I guess the short answer is because I want the most goals out of Laine, and Scheifele can’t defend for sh*t

Oh I agree the coaching is an is issue, the special teams are terrible and it's really got nothing to do with the personell, coaching is a whole different topic though.
If they do trade the 1st they better get some long term benefit out of the return.
